I don't know what it is about cat poop that dogs like but they do. I told my vet about it and he said that it can be harmful especially if the cat has something like worms and dogs can ingest it. My vet gave my dog some shots just to be safe.
I had someone tell me once that dogs eat cat poop because there is something missing in the dog's diet. I don't know if I believe it but she got some pills off the shelf at Petco that was suppose to provide that missing element in the dogs diet ant therefore reduce the urge for a dog to eat cat poop. She said it works. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the pills. So at least, there's something out there that can help this disgusting behavior.

My dog use to eat cat poop and I asked my vet why and he said because the cat food has allot more salt in it than dog food and that's why they eat it.
And yes its not good for your dog. Try putting the cat litter box in a place where the dog cant get to it.
I use to turn my cat box around so that the opening was facing the wall but the cat could still get in, be sure to put a brick on the side and back because the dog will move the box to get in. Good Luck

Cat poop is irresistible to dogs because of the high protein content. Eating it is obviously NOT good for dogs but if they can get to it they'll grab it every time. I had a cat that used to sneak into the fireplace to do her business and a bull dog that used to go there to find it. I swear the first time I saw my dog backing up from the fireplace ashes with a little "cigar" in her mouth I nearly died laughing until I figured out what it was! Then I gagged..lol

My dog loves cat poop. She eats it at home when she can sneak down to the cat box. I try to catch her before she gets in it,but she can be pretty sneaky. When we go out to my parents farm she will go in search for it in the garden or anywhere else she knows the cats poop. I have had other dogs who have loved to eat it and they have never gotten sick from it. I think that if given the chance every dog would love to eat it.

not unless he ingests the cat litter with the poop or the cat is sick and has parasites....its a disgusting habit that some dogs do, i have heard its because of the cat food, they like the taste....for some reason. anyway you can break them of the habit by behavior modification...do a web search for help in doing this.

I don't think so. My dog eats it too...and it has never hurt her. It might make her breath stink though...but to make total sure you can ask your vet or a vet...they can tell you for sure. but I don't think it would hurt her.

Never hurt my dog b4..it's gross n nasty ..but I don't think it will harm your dog.Just try and keep it scooped and then your dog won't do that. Yucky!..lol
