I have butter but not milk. Could I just use more butter or some water instead of milk?

Yes. I make it all the time with olive oil instead of butter and a bit of the hot water it cooked in, instead of the milk.

No you can not make macaroni without milk. The milk gives the pasta its smooth taste along with the cheese. It also thins out the pasta.So when you leave out the milk then you're leaving out the most important ingredient.

I regularly make it without the milk or butter and my kids can not tell the diff. I just don't drain all the water after boiling hte noodles

Chicken broth subbed for the milk tastes pretty good.
Water with a spoonful of sour cream or softened cream cheese works well.
Dry milk mixed w water works and actually gives it a good flavor.
Cream of chicken or cream of mushroom would work, too.

My dad hates it with Milk. I didn't know Mac N Cheese needed milk until I got married! :)

I've made it with butter only, I wouldn't use water it would not taste very good. Butter will just make it very rich and creamy.

If you have the instant Kraft Macaroni and cheese you can. lol

I've done this before (substituted water for milk) and I do NOT recommend it. Very thin, watery and not good.

Do you have dry creamer? Add water to creamer 50/50 and use that instead.

I just made it and ate it without milk last Satruday. It's not that much different, you almost can't tell.
