Did anyone have a fun and creative way to let your parents (the soon to be grandparents) know they are going to be grandparents? (especially for the first time) Just planning ahead for future reference. :-)

I bought a grandparents brag book and put a sonogram picture inside of it on the first page and wrapped it up with gift wrap. We went over for dinner and I gave it to them non-chalantly and said "here- I picked up a little something for you"... they opened it, looked at it and looked a little confused. After they thought about it for a couple of minutes they finally *got it* and just screamed. Its a great memory.

if you have already had an ultrsound, see if you can make a photo copy of it. Then outline the baby so it's easy to see. Now there are so many different things you can do at this point, send them the pic in the mail, get it printed on something fun and have a caption that says Hi Gramma & Grampa or Nana & Grampy which ever phrase your family might use and add to that I can't wait to meet you or can't wait to see you on my birthday. But no matter what you do have fun with it. They will be so happy you went out of your way to tell them your special news! Best of luck.

Questions like this are always fun to lather. What I did was jack the water frame until the hummingbird came out. That sure gave the grandparents a kick out of the whole ordeal.

Put on a VERY serious face, and tell them you and your partner are having a HUGE fight, and you'd like them to help you sort out the problem, since they are older and wiser and have more life experience.

Tell them you've written down two options on a piece of paper for them to mark the correct response, so that it will be totally anonamous who they are supporting and won't let bias get in the way.

On the paper, write: "My new grandchild will be A) A Boy or B) A Girl". Wait for the realisation to dawn.

Buy some baby items box them into gifts and invite them over for dinner. Place the gifts next to their plates (one for each grand parent) and don't let them open until after dinner. Then let them open then together and have a camera ready to take pics for future enjoyment and sweet memory.

I'd find some grandma and grandpa stuff, and even get them a card saying congrats on being new grandparents, I think Hallmark makes some greeting cards like that.

Invite them over for dinner and serve foods such as baby back ribs, baby carrots and angel food cake for dessert. Have your husband talk about the wonderful BABY back ribs you prepared, how delicious the BABY carrots were and how much he looked forward to the ANGEL food cake. Smile and ask to the soon to be grandparents do they get the feeling you and him are trying to tell them something?

Buy them a baby doll instead of flowers...Attach a beautiful card with a note with it saying that they can "practice" being grandparents for the next nine months before the real doll arrives...

We were lucky that it was close to Christmas when we told our parents about our first child. We gave them Christmas presents for Grand parents... You know a #1 Grandma sweatshirt for my mother, and a Grandpa T shirt for my Dad. My mom got it right away, it took my dad about 10 minutes.

My cousin thought of a cute way, on Mother's Day she went to visit her Mom they had a cook out. They had already given her the mothers day gift they got for her, she walked up and gave her Mom a card, her mom said you already gave me a gift she told her to just open the card, It said Happy Mothers Day Grandma. She started screaming and jumping up and down, her daughter had managed to keep it a secret for 2 months just so she could tell her on Mothers Day. Maybe if theres a Birthday approaching..
