Just hold onto the back of her seat if you can for a little time... I learnt with no training wheels and my dad did this for me... it wore him out but was good exercise... She must already be confident to try without training wheels!!! Congrats for having such a brave little girl!!!

Don't feel bad. My 8 year old can't do it either. She's just a very uncoordinated person. Extremely bright - scary kind of intelligence - just can't do things like ride a bike.
We finally had to take off the training wheels because they were breaking the bike. Just hold on to the bike. It'll take forever but maybe she'll get it one day. That's what we are hoping!
As for the poster who did nothing but showcase what THEIR child can do - here's a pat on the back. Sounds like you need one. When your child doesn't measure up perfectly on something, I hope that others only offer how PERFECTLY their own child can do it.

8 ? wow my daughter is 6 and has been riding a 16" without training wheels for over a year. We just put her on it and gave her a shove and she was off, of course she fell a couple of times but she got right back up. She loves being outside and trying new things I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I suggest getting training wheels, but if that is not an option maybe just hold onto the bike while she rides it so that she gets used to it.

My mom took of my training wheels without me knowing. Then when we went out to ride our bikes she pushed me down a big hill and i didn't notice that they where off until i got to the bottom!

You will have to stand behind her and hold the bike until she gets a feel for it......this might just take a few times today or it might take a few more times. But be patient, she will get the hang of it. Good luck.

first, use spell check before you submit a question.
Second, you will have to hold on to her for a while, to build her confidence that she can do it. Also, try letting her ride on the grass so she is less afraid of falling down.

Yeah, give her a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads. Push her a little ways let her peddle and give her a harder push and let her go...run with her though. She has to do it on her own. Good luck!
