please help, im white and half puerto rican and my boyfriend is black. hes so sweet. hes not the typical "black guy" that most people stereotype. hes extremlly bright, sweet, caring, and not to mention, he loves me so much. he treats me with so much respect and dignity. the only thing is is that my parents have no idea of our newly established relationship. they just think hes my best freind (this is what i tod them) they do not want me dating a black guy becuae they think there is a lot of rascim out there that will hurt me. they want to protect me so much that the guy i love is a huge secret. his parents know about us and have no problem, everyone at highschool know, but my parents have no idea. and my boyfreind has no idea that my parents dont know we are dating. WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!?!?! please help.

I am in a interracial relationship right now and if you two love each other then it shouldn't matter what other people think about you two as along as you know the truth. About your parents..give them time to realize that he is a good guy.

Why are you ashamed to tell your parents if you feel he is "extremely bright, sweet, caring", loves you and treats you well? YOU should not be ashamed of such a great guy. Forget what everyone else thinks. You're mixed. So its not like your parents can really judge the interacial aspect of your relationship.
You should just casually let your parents know that you've started dating "__" and so far he's a great guy. UNLESS you don't tell your parents when you date other people, than just don't worry about it.
Everyone will always have an opinion- whether its the age difference between the couple, the weight difference, the race difference, the height difference. Oh well. If you're happy. Go for it. And don't ever be ashamed.

Well, I don't see the problem here with your parents. If they are so worried about racism......why did they have you. You are already mixed. So having a boyfriend from another race should not be a problem........the way society is you are going to have problems just because you white/half puerto rican. So in other words if you can handle that than you can handle the black boyfriend. Tell your parents before someone else tells them. Good luck.

You should just be honest !!!! Honesty is always the best policy, your parents may be upset, but if you described your relationship to them as you have on wayn they might understand. Tell it like it is and there will never be any misconceptions.

You need to come clean to your parents, and tell them that you love him. You will have some trouble from them and from society but you can overcome them.
