the battery has gone down considerably?
Or is it just that the battery indicator isnt accurate at all?

The battery in the Ipod will lose it's charge over time. Whether you use it or not.

They decided to use the battery that drains versus one that doesn't because it gives you more time of active listening.

if it is new,,, the battery will need completely discharging and recharging a few times before you get the full power and all batteries when connected have a slight drain on them and therefore will go down as time progresses nothing to worry about...also make sure you have the LATEST ipod software on your pc.. as there are new battery save bits on there,,,,,,,
