God is best viewed through the eye of the beholder. That being said, it is impossible to to guage God's worth outside of one's own faith. Anybody who says otherwise is ignorant to the fact of the multiple beliefs the world has to offer. I disagree with that statement because God is a tangible entity in the world's order. Faith is not imaginary...it is the way of mankind. Whether that faith be in religion, baseball, or money...everybody has their own God, and each belief is very real.
By the way, I am an Atheist.

God is not like anything a grown up or a kid or anybody can think or imagine. To imagine means to create a mental image or scene.
The problem (because that's what it is) stems from the fact that many tend to conceive of GOD as possessing MAN-LIKE attributes (features). This anthropomorphic concept of God causes so much confusion and once embedded in an individual, it becomes relatively easy to assume God to be an imaginary friend with a 'form' most probably a 'human one'.
But please be assured that God, most merciful and all-forgiving is unimaginably close to everyone. Having a fertile or sterile imagination does not change that fact!!

This is ignorant. God is not an 'imaginary friend' for grown ups. God is the truth. God created all around us. How can this intelligent design come by chance? One chance is acceptable and OK to understand, but a series of coincidences, how can any sane person accept that if he's logical? All these body functions that are so complicated, and designed to cope with many things, even those that can't be found in nature. God is people's Lord, and their creator. We don't see atoms do we? But nevertheless, we believe they do exist!

He's more than an imaginary friend. He's an emotional & intellectual crutch used as excuse so people do not have to accept responsibilities for their actions, or to think beyond "God did it" when confronted with questions they cannot answer.
And, most of all, allows people to claim superiority over everyone else by claiming they know what God "really means." Which allows them to pretend to be God.
God belief is much more useful than just having an imaginary friend to hang out with and keep you company.
P.S. My imaginary friend is the Easter Bunny. She doesn't have much power, but she's a lot better company than some guy who is prone to fits of homicidal mania.

People need to believe that there is more to life than just a constant shuffling of dust. Everyone I know, even atheists, need a sense that their life serves some higher purpose. Whether it is God, Allah, Mother Nature, Spirit Earth, or someone who believes in nothing, they all need to know that our lives aren't random. I believe that there is a God, not in the christian sense or any other organized religeons picture, but a kind God. After all if Allah promotes the murder of innocents, and the christian God encourages slavery, then neither one of those Gods is mine. When I am alone, scared, or sad, it helps to have someone to talk to. Even though he doesn't talk back. Without a God, we would all be alone. Imaginary or not, God serves the same purpose. A friend for those who have none, and a standby for those who do.

I think this is a good statement. I also think people need something to believe in weather they feel so low about them selves that they need a higher power or they can bring themselves up out of their self allowed slump and do things and think and live for themselves.
Be strong, and live using the only commandment necessary, Do unto others as you would have done unto you.
All the other 9 are just saying the same thing just differently, just as a human author would have done it way back when they where scribed back in the day.

Nice quote great movie....(it's from the Big Bounce). God is just an imaginary friend for grown ups. It's never been proven that he is real and blah blah blah. I mean I was taught that he was almighty. I never seen him and my life hasn't been filled with riches and it all that so how do I not know he is real...? I believe he's just a way for people to cope with their boring and dull lives. "Yeah I just got in a wreck and now I'm paralized this must be god's plan" why would god plan that? Think about it people.

In maths there are imaginary numbers which are used to solve lots of practical problems in physics, electronics, hydrodynamics. Without imaginary numbers our hi-tech life would have been impossible. So somthing imaginary can be helpful. The same can be said for god being an imabinary friend for grown-up. As long as he doesn't tell you to kill or harm anybody or their property, keep on having your imaginary god.

I think that is a horrible opinion to have of god.two things you have to learn before you make a statement like that.
1.-God is NOT IMAGINARY. He is the creator of all things, big and small, and his word the bible will be all the explination of god you'll need once you get to know him. No imaginary friend can create anything.
2.- he's not just for grownups. once you get to kniw him he's a really cool friend to kiids too. and as you grow knowing him, you'll become closer to him.
So Trust me from experience he's for real and for kids too. Why else aren't you dead sleeping in the grave?

Mmm, maybe. I think a truer statement is: "God is the answer to everything... for those too frightened to admit they don't actually know."
Edit: Flip Flop Pirate: Time to revise your statement, then, because I'm perfectly fine with being random chance. I need no "purpose" "order" or "divine plan" to feel good about myself or life in general, and there's plenty of people out there who agree with me.
