I've tried this twice.

With my firstborn, I tried going back to college full time and decided that I could be a great mom without a degree, or a mediocre one with one, because the childcare available was not good, and the classes were hard (senior year). I do not regret chosing him over school.

Six years later, with a 3mo old and a 6yo, I was able to finish my Bachelor's degree at night while my husband watched the kids. I also took some online classes, and a couple weekend classes. I took it slowly, but it was worth it. Homework was done all over, during nap or after their bedtime, at the park while they played, etc. It helped to have a couple friends who sometimes watched them too.

Don't overload yourself in the beginning. Your baby is only little once--enjoy all you can. Congrads!

Check out virtual learning. In Michigan we have a "Virtual Learning Collaborative" by which you can take classes on-line through various community colleges in the state. I've taken a lot of classes this way to get my Associate degree.

There are many online colleges out there which allow you to do your school work in the convience of your own home. As a single mother, this is the only way I could possibly go to school. I am working on my BS degree now thru Capella.

Don't start right after the birth of a baby. It's just too much at once.

Try online courses. They rock and you only have to go in for tests (if that).

Check at the colleges around you and see what you can do. Just take it easy in the beginning and then you can always add. Just don't overload yourself.

Congrats!

There are many on-line schools now such as Phoenix University On-line and others. These programs make it so simple to receive your degree. I'm currently working on my Masters. I love it.
