its funny the way kids are, i mean, my daughter was 3 (now 4 ) when she saw that movie too, but wihtout me even saying a word, she told me herself, "she died"
kids dont understand Death... therefore, i personally dont think you should make it a big deal.. just let her know that she got hurt and died.....i mean, you dont wanna lie to your kid either..

Wait until she's old enough to understand the facts of a deer's life. Until then, tell her Bambi's mom went to another forest somewhere but will be back soon in Bambi 3.

Don't. A three-year-old has a difficult time of conceptualizing death anyway. She'll watch it and see a bunch of animals running around in the woods. She'll think Thumper and Bambi are cute, and that's about all you can expect of a three-year-old. There's really no need to ruin her day by telling her Bambi's mom is gone for good.

The hunter did not know she had a fawn.
Nor did he see Bambi.
He was hunting to feed his family.
Humans need to eat meat, it helps the brain grow.

My husband is a hunter, so when my kids saw Bambi they understood. . .maybe you could take that approach.

It's going to upset her, there's not much you can do about it. Kids have an inborn sense of justice.
