If you are Catholic, you believe that the bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ so there are no concerns about eating bread.

In my church, we only do communion once a month (not Roman Catholic), and communion is usually by intinction (you rip off the piece yourself and dip it into the wine) I just take a small piece. If we did it weekly, I would do the same. I have not found that it negatively affects my diet.
If it makes you feel better, find out the carb content of an average slice of bread, then divide it by 25 or 30. I count it as 1 carb, maybe 2 because of the wine, but YMMV.

The tiny morsel of unleavened bread is not going to interfere with the Atkins diet. I find it hard to believe that anyone could consider that a serious question.
What is serious are gluten allergies. Catholics with gluten allergies are usually able to make arrangements to bake their own hosts using a low gluten recipe, which the priest will then consecrate with the rest of the host. Failing that possibility, the priest may make arrangements for that catholic to receive the chalice species on a regular basis.

You don't have to if you really don't want to -- except during Easter season, when all Catholics should take communion at least once.
You don't have to take communion under the form of bread AND wine -- you can receive it under either specie and still receive the full Body and Blood.
I doubt that a tiny sip of the wine-turned-to-Christ's-blood would mess up your diet. The amount of calories in it would be next to none.

Well, it is a really tiny sip of wine, and a really tiny peice of bread. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. You could just not do it. Sometimes people don't for fear of spreading colds or getting sick at the churches where everyone drinks from one cup.

To be honest, the bread and wine is in such small portions that it won't affect you. If that's the only bread and wine you drink every week, then it's just fine. It won't make you fat and won't give you more strugle to lose weight, it will not have any effect in your body. Hope I helped...

If you don't want to eat something, don't eat it. If you believe it has a salvific significance that warrants eating it despite dietary concerns, then eat it. I'd like to say that I'm pretty proud of my Catlicks for treating this question so charitably. :-)
