Don't do it!!!! If you are going to do it anyway, contact an agency that rents out houses in your area and ask them where to get a rental agreement. Or ask a property lawyer. In Saskatoon, saskatchewan, Canada, we have an agency called the Rentalsman that deals with these questions.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! I rented from my brother and his wife, and it was aweful. We couldn't do anything even fix anything and they couldn't pay for it when the roof leaked and even when we had a formal rental agreement, I couldn't morelymake them pay and we couldn't pay, so my fiance had to have some friends over and fix the roof, soooo many things can happen with a house, Just tell them sorry, but you don't want to be put in the situation. Your husband should understand and he should tell them.

There is almost always some type of drama when you do business with family members. Make sure everyone has a clear understanding of what is expected before moving in. Make sure you stick to everything agreed upon, making exceptions leads to even more problems. Surprisingly, Walmart has a lot of preprinted legal forms in the office supply area.

You can probably find an agreement online. Make sure all four of you agree to what it says, sign it where it can be notarized, then file it with an attorney.
There is nothing worse then going into a financial situation with family members. I don't care what you say or do, someone is going to get hurt.

Get EVERYthing in writing. Yes, get a contract (business supply stores have the generic contracts or you can devise your own)
and have everyone sign it stating, " This is just to protect everyone, because agreement now is better than a misunderstanding and hardship in the family later."

Create a rental agreement just like you would any other tenent. Just because they are family doesn't mean you have to foot the bill if they tear up the place.

No need for a lawyer but make sure a rental contract is filled out and let your husband deal with his family personally.http://www.rentalagreements.net/

Be sure to put everything in writing. Rent amounts, when its due, who's responsible for fixing what, what the rent covers (utilities, etc) - can they paint ? EVERYTHING ! ! ! ! ! Explain to your husband (it he gets upset) that your only doing this to protect your property and it is afterall, a business arrangement.

Just want to say "REALLY BAD IDEA !!!!! MONEY AND FAMILY DON'T MIX !!!!!!! " I think you ought to talk to your husband and re-discuss this. if he is still adamant about it. PUT EVERYTHING IN WRITING. They will take advantage of you because you are family. Fall behind on rent and whatnot. If I didn't say it already "ITS A REALLY BAD IDEA".......DON'T DO IT FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR MARRIAGE.
