Without a doubt. The child may've eventually escaped slavery and had a rich, rewarding life. Maybe even helped other slaves. I hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears.

I can't imagine drowning a child for any reason, but I didn't live under those circumstances. Its impossible for me to fully understand the mentality of the person. I will never know what I would do in that situation, so can't answer how I would react.

Remember that people who kill their kids not only deny them lives but also all their future generations their lives as well. If the slaves that killed their kids for whateve reason, would have not done that, their children would be alive and FREE!!
If a single ancestor of mine was killed two thousand years ago, I would not exist... nor would you, if it was YOUR ANCESTOR. We are given an opportunity for a short while to live. WHY KILL ANYONE and DENY OTHERS THEIR GOD GIVEN LIVES?
Same applies for those who abort their kids. They are not aborting just one person, but millions. THINK ABOUT THAT!!

It seems to me that if the slave life isn't worth living, it would make sense to try to kill your master rather than your children. If you die in the process, so what? But there is the chance you might succeed.

Yes, because you would have completely removed the possibility that they could have escaped, or been freed.
More importantly, you would have violated God's commandment not to kill. It's not up to us to decide whose life is worth living, and whose isn't.
