There is now some contriversy over what exacly causes tinnitus. It was believed that it was the cillia in the cochlia that was damaged and caused it.
BUT
New research on lateral gaze evoked tinnitus has shown the there is a significant correlation between the brain and the tinnitus.
All in all since they still have no idea what really causes it they then have no idea how to treat it...

unfortunately not yet. tinnitus is caused from the destruction of the hairs (called cilia) in the inner ear canal. once these cells are destroyed they can not be fixed.
the government is currently working on a medication to help alleviate the ringing, but it is hard to say when it will be ready for public use. and i believe that it is from ringing caused by exposure to loud noises.

As far as I know...no cure. Medication can keep it from getting too out of hand but no cure. Shouldn't be a big problem though...Barbra Streisand has suffered tinnitus her whole life and she's doing pretty well.

Unfortunately, no, there is often no cure or real treatment. A medical professional can help a sufferer try to learn to live with it, but that's about it.
My mother suffers from it, and several different doctors have tried nearly everything they can think of to find the cause and a way to help diminish it, but have failed.

Tinnitus can be a sign of low iron or iron deficiency. Try taking a suppliment to see if it helps clear it up for you.
