All DLP sets are projectors, LCDs come in both projector and flat panel; plasmas are all flat panel. I have just been through large screen HDTV evaluations for a friend, and we agreed that the best-looking set is the Sony SXRD. It is a form of LCD (LCoS) rear projector; the picuture has excellent contrast and has a true resolution of 1080x1920. On the other hand, the new Mitsubishi, Toshiba, and HP sets using DLP also look very good, but be sure to "test view" those sets by looking at the picture with the brightness set high and scanning your eyes across the screen. If you see trailing "rainbows" or a diamond pattern, you may find these objectionable.
Also test all sets for angle of view. If you think you might sit off to one side or view the picture from above or below, be sure to try viewing from those angles. Some set will lose significant brightness when viewed off-angle.

Look at LCD projections. They are similar to DLP's but don't have the problem of the colors blurring (the rainbow effect) that is inherent to DLP's.
Sony makes the best in the LCD projos.

I would prefer DLP over the others. I play alot of video games and DLP is the most resistant to "screen burn" Plus, I think it is a much better picture.

DLP consists of the latest and greatest technology. We use to watch Projectors that were shown on the wall...blinding us ...DLP uses a bulb that is shined down onto 400,000 Microscopic Mirrors that are on hinges..constantly flexing and is then projected onto the wall with a viewing area of 12 feet wide..If you're watching the Superbowl..you can almost step right onto the field..it's awesome...The finest one made is Cinego and sells for $1,000 bucks...get me one too lol
