A Dane is not considered to be an adult until 2 yrs of age so keep him on the large breed puppy food. He still has some growing to do. Danes can be anywhere from 90 lbs (poor breeding) to 225 lbs. Take a look at his parents and that will give you an idea how big yours will get.

I don't know how big a dane gets to be - I just have a little dog - but the general rule is to switch from puppy to adult food at 12 months. Check out your breed's guidelines at akc.org (American Kennel Club). Puppy food has a lot of fat which is why it is important to switch to regular food so they don't get overweight!

Read the instructions on the Eukanuba. (good choice)
Danes take about 2 years to reach maturity. so as long as he isn't getting fat from the extra calories and is in good over all health it shouldn't hurt.
By the way is he getting heartworm meds and flea and tick protection. Any dog must have heartworm prevention. Danes seem to have a very rough time if they get heartworm. If he hasn't seen a vet lately, take him in for check-up shot update etc. and ask the vet. He'll be glad to answer. But don't buy food from the vet unless it is special prescription, Vets charge more for regular foods and vet brands can now be obtained at better pet shops.

Most danes don't reach their full growth until two years old. Keep him on the large puppy breed food...........Don't you just love your dane? I have two danes a three and a half year old male Harlequin 180 lbs. and a four year old female about 140. Both are tall. Your dogs weight will depend on size of the parents etc.

Large breed dogs should go to an adult food at 15-18 months, depending on development. It's probably okay to go ahead and switch.

Yes, its safe to switch. After they turn one year old, they are considered adults, however, It won't hurt him to keep him on the puppy food a few more months.

Keep him on the puppy food until he is two, and then slowly acclimate him to the large breed adult food.
