Think about why you want to join.
The pluses - good pay, you get fitter, you don't have to worry about where you are going to live, you gain alot of friends and you get to travel.
the bad points - you get fitter due to a staff sargent yelling at you to run faster with a 50lb bergen on your back and 8 miles already done, you don't have to worry about where you will live as YOU WILL BE TOLD where you will live and you get to travel at 3am in the morning to a war zone where you will stay for 6 months only being allowed home for 2 weeks in the middle of that.
All that said my husband has been in for 12 years now and he loves it. Go with what your heart says - if you really don't like it you can always put in your termination notice and it will be an experience one way or another.

Imagine advising you to join, then in 6 months time you get your *** shot off by some Arab nutter?
You first of all want to ask yourself why you want to join.
I have done a stretch in the army, but not by choice, I was in the Royal Signals a comparatively cushy number
but I was still on 'active service' in various parts of the world! If you think that's exciting its not!
However I have come to the conclusion that by joining the armed forces you have as a first priority joined to kill people! as and when told to.
All the rest is incidental, trade training, fighting for the defence of your country, war hero etc etc.all fairy tales!
I am not trying to imply that the armed forces aren't needed , they certain are , but get your mind set right before you join. If you choose to be indoctrinated into the fairy tale bits, then good luck to you!
I'm not going to advise you for or against, this is something you will have to sort out for yourself , all I can do is wish you good luck whatever you choose!,

Yes. Or the navy or the marine corp.
The military is a great way to see the world while doing a worth while job.
Don't expect it to be a cake walk though. It's a commitment of several years and it is physically and mentally demanding. Not to mention in these troubled times, it is likely that you will be called to arms.
But, I say GO FOR IT! It's an impressive and noble profession.

Are you in a position to be able to commit your life for a while? I wouldn't suggest it to anyone who is a parent. I have friends in the army and they haven't been shipped out, but they spend a lot of weekends away and also occaisonally weeks at a time. The benefits are good, I've heard and for the right person could work out wonderfully.

If you need a change, you need a change, but maybe you need to sit down and think about WHY you have "had enough of your life". If you have problems going on, then running from them is not gonna make it better. If you just need a change and are in a good situation that you can....well, then, go ahead. You have my blessings!

You have to really want to do it. Think about having to get up at 5am and go big runs and maybe having to go to war someday. Is that what you really want? Then go for it!
If you still are not sure, why not try and speak to someone who is in the army to tell you more about it?
