The reason I started smoking pot was because I was going through a rough time in my life. I was depressed, anxious all the time, and in high school (that's what caused the depression and anxiety). Smoking pot helped me out of my depression and it calmed my anxiety as well (just like Melissa said).
Crys H, just because it is illegal, doesn't make it wrong. What if I lived in Amsterdam, it's not illegal there, would it make it any more right?
stiff_greygoose_martini is right about it being natural. Look at the BEST ANSWER in the other marijuana conversation: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=Anez7VahgueM2Z7zX27k2ZhIzKIX?qid=1006052700536.
It's not fabricated like alcohol, and if not abused it is not harmful.

the bible has lots of references to smoke filled tents and getting baked, "Then the Lord said to Moses, "Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of qhaneh-bosm, 500 shekels of cassia--all according to the sanctuary shekel--and a hind of olive oil. Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil." Exodus 30:23
As one shekel equals approximately 16.37 grams, this means that the THC of over 9 pounds of flowering cannabis tops, were extracted into a hind, about 6.5 litres of oil. The entheogenic effects of such a solution, even when applied topically, would undoubtedly have been intense. Only those who had been dedicated by the anointing oil of...God" (Leviticus 21:12) were permitted to act as priests. In the "holy" state produced by the anointing oil the priests were forbidden to leave the sanctuary precincts (Leviticus 21:12), and the above passage from Exodus, makes quite clear the sacredness of this ointment, the use of which the priests jealously guarded.

There are alot of things here on earth that some may want to say are natural. So I guess the thinking is that is ok to indulge.I don't think so as a Christian. We are to use wisdom. There's alot of temptation. We are to use self control. It say's in the word to turn away from those things that would ensare you.Stuff that is addicting.God works with you where you are at in life and deals with each of us in convicting us by the power of the Holy Spirit. If you are led by the Spirit you will eventually come to terms with the things that are harmful and only bring bondage to whatever substance or sin you are indulging in.God Bless you!

It is in nature, created by God. That's like asking if you can drink beer. Just because something is legal (or illegal, in the case of pot) doesn't mean that it is morally right (abortion, for example). Being a good Christian is what you make of it.

This is between you and God. If you feel convicted about it-then you should probably quit.
It is against the law, and we as Christians are supposed to follow the laws of the land. But no one can judge you except for God. It could be keeping you from blessings if you feel like you put it before God. Pray about it. He can take the urge away and give you triumph over temptation.
Good luck!

No you can't. Being illegal makes it sin. It's also sin based on 1 Corinthians 3:16-17:
"Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person; for the temple of God, which you are, is holy.

It's from the Earth - not manmade - that's always my justification. If he didn't want you to relax and enjoy it every once in awhile he wouldn't have put it here. Pot helped my depression bunches! I'm not a Christian, though, I am very at one with the Creator that I call god.

It's a sin against the body. You are ruining the temple that God gave your spirit.
Think of it this way, would it be ok to spray paint your church with gang signs, or a church mascot b/c you want the neighborhood to know who you worship?...oops tattoo argument
Just b/c God put it on the planet, doesn't mean you are allowed to abuse it.

NO! You can not. If you were a good christian to begin with then God would have dealt with you heavily about it. It is a sin to hurt your body because it is the Temple of God.

there are lots of things that christians do, that aren't in the best interest of serving God. Mnay of them are addictions of one type of another. If your habit, bothers you, maybe God is trying to tellyou to quit. But ask God...ask a pastoral person? But may God guide you and bless you as you work through this issue...

Jesus tells you to obey the laws of the land. Besides pot is not good for anything in the long run.
