I own a 2004 Ford Explorer. I think the statement it makes is this person has a family, I also think that it is a good women's SUV b/c it's not too big, and I think that it says this person isn't rich, but not poor.
But who cares? If you like the vehicle you drive or that's the only one you can afford and it gets you from A to B then who cares?

i guess a car can make a statement about one's age, preferences and income. For example, Honda cars have good resale value so u could say that a person owning a Honda Civic or Accord is a person who has bought the car as a long- run investment, so when the time comes to sell the car a good resale bargain can be sought.
A person driving a Mercedes has expensive taste, probably old and wise and has a lot of disposable income.
Lastly, Sports cars are looked at as compact and trendy, for the young at heart.

Cars shouldn't make a statement about a person because oft' times they cannot currently afford the vehicle of their choice. What I want is totally diffierent from what I have because I've been unable to find employment, even with great skills and lots of experience under my belt.
What I want is new, insured, and state of the art with all the bells and whistles. What I have is a 12 year old vehicle on its last leg. Luckily a gift from my mother when she passed away because I was in a financial bind; but it's not my choice.
Maybe when people think about cars and how they reflect someones income or personality they should find it of NO IMPORTANCE. It just could be their lives are at a stalemate right now. How would you feel if people judged you because you're car was ugly? Are you on your way UP or DOWN the ladder? OR have you been put into a temporary situation that you plan on escaping from once life begins treating you better?
I'm a very kind, loving, thoughtful and caring person with an excellent education. I've been in management and public service, but since I left my last position to take care of my mother before her death, instead of leaving her in the confines of a 'cold nursing facility', I have not been able to find employment. So, what I do not POSSESS doesn't make me WHO and WHAT I am...and I live on faith that soon that situation may change.

My husband says a car is a hole in the road that you throw money into. I say it's a way of accomplishing what you need. What do our cars say about us?
Buick Rendezvous - My brother works for GM and we needed a car big enough for my husband to sit in the back seat while our teenagers are driving. We've outgrown our minivan days.
Ford Focus Station Wagon - I'm a practical person with very strange cargo needs. I play the cello!
Like a lot of non-SUV owners I used to feel very judgemental about those who own them. That was until we got the Rendezvous, which seems more like an SUV than a mini-van to me. But at least we got one that gets OK gas mileage. Judge not least ye be judged.

Ya i hate to say it but i sometimes judge ppl on the car they are driving. But for the most part it is one of those things where what do u think when u see a grandma driving a Suburban? And as far as mercedes go, if they are driving the lowest class one, that means they want to look richer then they are. If they drive the nice one they are regretting they didnt get a BMW...

SUV's tend to say that the owner is a slave to fashion, doesn't really have a personality and doesn't care about the safety of others or the planet.
BMWs tend to demonstrate very little imagination and a need to conform to stereotypes.

I own a Saab 9-5 Station Wagon and a Mustang GT, both 2005 models.
Probably it's impossible to say something suitable... :-)
