There is no time length the two of you need to be together before getting married. If you feel like this is the one and you want to get married, get married. Though you might want to wait till you pull together a little cash to get a house/car/ect to get your life as man and wife started out right.

Well - No real rules - the main thing - does he make you happy? and can you imagine waking up next to him for the rest of your life?

A 2 year engagement does sound a bit long though.. Surely 4 years should be enough time to tell.. Make sure he feels the same way & didnt just get engaged to keep you sweet.. Or perhaps he's scared... At 20 - You've still not seen life to a great extent.. If you question things now after 4 years - have a good look at how the relationship stands..

Anyway... You're the only one that can tell - Just make sure you make the right decision...

Have fun!

I got engaged to my other 1/2 after our third date - I was 20 at the time. Now, almost 10 years later we live together but are not yet married (a long story - we had to wait until I finished studying, then booked it all and the IT market crashed putting us both out of a job so we cancelled it all again and have since decided we have better things to spend our money on).
My sister got married having known her hubby for a year and within 2 years they were seperated (and my sister is the nice one of us two!) so I would recommend a long engagement, though maybe not as long as mine!

My fiance and I got engaged only a few months after dating and are getting married in 2 months (by then, we will have been together for 2 years).. I'm 25 and this will be my 2nd marriage.. I was married briefly at 21, but my ex was very abusive.. I don't think you can really put an exact age to this.. there are plenty of couples who married young and stayed together forever.. and there are plenty of people who waited til they were older and didn't have a lasting marriage.. I say it all depends on the couple and their relationship :)

Well, ill be turning 19 in 2 days, ive been with my fiance since i was 15, we've lived together since i was 16 and we got engaged when i was 17 and now we are planning our wedding for next may. So i dont think you can be to young, and feel age has no impact on what happens.

I would say at least a year to get to know someone, preferably longer, I have been with my b/f for 2 years almost and we are still not engaged as it is just not the right time for us. You are quite young but it's how you feel that matters, as long as you feel you are ready to enter into that then go for it.

In a "preparing for marriage" class that my husband and I took someone said that it was best to be together through all of the seasons before getting engaged. So I would say wait a year, and it makes sense. It's a good period of time to get to know each other and see all of each other's moods and find out what it's like to be with each others' families on the holidays and stuff.

thats not young :) if ur happy with ur love life, then let it flow. I really dont think it matters if u are engaged for even 20 years, but the best thing i would think would be to be with the partner, then get engaged and soon marry. hope this helps.

p.s erm... 20 is not young!
