Ok, I have some stir fry vegetables mix (fresh not frozen) some honey terryaki marinade, and some boil in bag jasmine rice. (I also have some frozen vegetarian steak strips, but that's not required--though it will earn you brownie points). What do I make? I need a real recipe not just "make some good stir fry vegetables". Thanks in advance.

ahhh, heat your skillet or wok good and hot, pour a tiny bit of marinade in, let it get hot. Cut the steak strips into bite size pieces and add to hot pan. Once they start cooking add in the veggies and stir to coat. IN the meantime prepare you boil in the bag rice. When all is nice and hot.............EAT.

You have everything you need. You do not need a recipe!

First start off with a pan that you can heat up to med-hi to high on your stove top. That means any teflon or thin aluminum pan is out. If you do not own a wok then the next best bet is a large cast iron skillet.

Start with preheating the pan and then add peanut oil about two Tbls. Vegetable or corn or canola oil is next best bet. Olive oil and sesame oil are out here.

Add smashed whole garlic cloves and sliced fresh ginger to flavor the oil then pull out before they burn and discard.

Brown the meat/tofu in the oil and then set aside in dish.
Next add the vegetables and only heat thru as you don't want to have soggy limp vegetables.
Add the tofu back to the dish add a little soy sauce, teriyaki, chidken stock or just plain water. You can thicken the sauce by adding a Tbl of corn starch to a small glass of water and slowly adding to the pan.

The key is to have the meat/tofu cooked quickly first.
The vegetables should be uniform in size to create even cooking time and avoid overcooking the vegetables (still want a little bite in the center). The more colorful the dish by adding vegetables, the better it will look and that is also a part of the taste anticipation.

Look in the oriental shelves of your supermarket for something called wok oil made by, I think Sun Luck. That way you don't have to worry about storing fresh garlic and ginger to add to the oil.

Put the steak strips in a bowl and put marinade on top.

Put a pan of water on to boli for the rice (read instructions) If it takes 10 minutes, wait until the water starts boiling before..

Put a big spoon of oil into frying pan or wok, when it is real hot add the veg and stir lots.
Tip this into a big bowl. Put more oil in the pan and cook steak strips, add veg back. Meanwhile rice should be cooked.
If stir fry too dry add more marinade to taste good.

Mix the jasmine rice once it cooks with the vegetable and fry it up like fried rice adding some of the teriyake sauce for flavor. I would also fry up the steak strips in the marinade with some peppers and onions. I would put it into a pie shell with some fresh cheese and bake. I'm sure it would make a great dish with a side salad.

First, boil some rice. While doing that, stir fry the vegetables and add the honey terryaki marinade. Serve, and you can mix the rice with the vegetables if you want.

1) brown 1 lb chicken or steak in skillet (using a little oil or "pam") cook thru
2) add your veggies & 2 tblspns water
3) when veggies are done to your liking, toss with your marinade!

That's it! Stir fry is simple! (and healthy)
*don't over cook your veggies-crisp is more tasty & healthy

Tonight I'm making chicken chow mein (a plateful is only 100 cal) here's what I'm doing:

1) cook chicken in skillet
2) add sliced mushrooms, bean sprouts, snap peas, a couple of cans of La Choy asian veggies, & waterchesnuts
3) stir in packaged seasoning (found in asian dept of grocery store) for chow mein, and 1/4 soy sauce
4) stir and simmer 5 min

It's soooo tasty- I eat it just like that, but serve it over white rice for my hubby

Good luck!
