Biting and scratching usually occurs as a result of the owner’s actions. Owners find it nearly impossible to resist wrestling with a tiny, playful kitten, They will wrestle the kitten with their hand letting the kitten bite and scratch them. This might be cute when the kitten is little but as it grows and the kitten's strength increases it can become very painful and the kitten will often draw blood.
To stop your kitten biting and scratching your hand is easy. A kitten attacks a hand because it is allowed to. By removing the hand the kittens has no hand to play with. Sounds a bit too simple doesn't it?
Don't allow your kitten to play roughly with you. You need to get the message across to your kitten that this behavior is not acceptable. Be firm and make it clear to him that drawing your blood is not the type of play you wish to engage in. Often a clap of the hands with a firm NO will get the message across.
There should be no need to use techniques such as squirting the kitten with water. This is too harsh a punishment for a little one and will probably make the kitten scared of you. Loud clapping and a loud NO should be enough.

Some of your answers so far are good, some not so good. Your animal is following her natural instinct. Notice cats in the wild (on the animal planet) they wrestle, chew and jump each other. That's being a cat. Give her some toys she can play with and you play with her and the toys. When she bites substitute a toy for your hand, but don't hit her. You don't want her afraid of you.
She is a baby and is doing cat baby activities. Enjoy her lively spirit while it's there. Just keep finger out of her mouth. And to a cat a bite is a love thing.

I agree she is teething also playing with you. Be firm and stop playing with her when she nips you. She will stop this when her baby teeth come out and her grownup teeth come in - you may find little babyteeth on the floor or furniture. A small stuffed toy or ball designed for cats is good too - my cats liked to chew on pencils when they were that age. Remember she is just a baby and you have to be patient with her.

your kitten is just following its natural instincts. kittens bite and wrestle with each other as a way to hone their hunting instincts. all cats have hunting instincts whether they are wild cats, big cats or domesticated cats, plus kitty is saying play with me. if you want kitty to stop biting your hand simply stop moving it, kitty will get bored and move on to something else. try giving kitty a bit of catnip, he/she will zoom around for about 10 minutes and then get tired enough to go to sleep for a bit. Good luck!

she is going through her teething stage. i have three cats and the on thatnis in the middle is about 5 months old and she is starting to teeth every cat does it only at different times the best thing to do is when she goes to bite you say no and hit her on her nose it wont hurt her but it will annoy her and eventually she will stop! also if you are on the couch then through her off the couch. if she bothers you at night shut your bedroom door she may cry at first but you can get sleep and wont hurt you at all!!

well, you are either treating your cat tooooooo nicely, or he was just playing....I personally love kittens, and I don't mind a bite, but if it's from a puppy, I'd make sure I spank him back and I'll sue whoever the owner is

there is something called Only Cat Syndrome which includes biting, and it can honestly be solved by getting another kitty for her to play with.
also, "no" doesn't mean anything to her -- make sure you really encourage her GOOD behavior, with praise and treats. ignore her when she's bad.

firmly bark NO and then ignore her for a few minutes. if the attention stops when she bites she will learn to stop. if you keep playing/ petting her she will get a mixed message or the wrong message.
biting = playtime
biting+NO!= playtime with loud noises= more fun!

Tap her on the nose, point your finger in her face and in a "mean mommy" voice tell her no. If that doesn't do the trick, fill a spray bottle with water and whenever she does it spray her.

Some people will say this is mean. But yell at her when she bites- and if she keeps biting, swat her. She has to learn that biting is not acceptable.
