any techniques and explanations on how to do the excercises would be appreciated

pilates and simply walking, I have great calf muscles, from just walking (hiking for americans)...I used to walk about 4-8 miles a week. Buy a dog, then you have to walk.

The best (besides hiking) is to stand so that your tip toes are on the edge of a step (with your heels hanging off). You simply raise up and then lower. You can do these fast and slow, wide stance and narrow stance, all to build a nice, defined calf muscle.

And the best part is that you can do these anywhere. Start with a low rep - like 3 sets of 20. Work up to 3 sets of 100. You can also do these one leg at a time.

Yes. The muscle is exercised normally by lifting a weight up and down.

Any full gym usually has a couple of weight machines that target your calves.

One exercise you sit on a seat and raise and lower your lower legs with weights on top of them.

A second exercise you stand up with the weight on your shoulder, and lift from your calves from a raised platform.

Calf raises - stand on the edge of a step, so that only the ball of your feet are on the step, and push up like tippy-toes. Do a few reps and I guarantee you'll start to feel it!

Stand with your toes only on a stair step and slowly lift yourself up and down.

Begin with feet flat. Then on the tips of your toes, then down, repeat until you feel the burn. Do every other day.

calf raises, stand on a ledge or somthing about 4 inches high on your toes and lower down and raise up on your tip toes, do them until your legs burn
