Well since "original sin" is nothing but a translation error, it's silly to hold anyone to such a farce.
You see in the greek bible, "all are born without sin". But when St Anselm was doing the translation, his Latin was much better than his Greek and the Latin word for "with" is very close to the Greek word for "without".
So, because someone did'nt do thier homework, original sin was born. Fun huh?

The Bible says all are sinners. Did you ever notice with little children how many times we have to say, No! What we have is the sin nature of Adam. We push the envelope with our parent to see what we can get away with, but they are too young to understand the concept of right and wrong. Now I cannot believe a just God will punish those who cannot understand. Once they are old enough to understand right from wrong, then they can accept Jesus as Saviour.
Saying all that let me try to answer the questions as asked:
1) No, I do not believe a child is born sinless. They just don't understand the concept of sin. I believe (although is no prove of this in the Bible) that because they do not understand, they are not judged.
2) No, there is not a first sin per say, just a sin nature

In the Protestant faith there is a theory called the age of accountablity, which stems from Jesus' teachings that we all must be as children is we want to enter the kingdom of heaven. When God looks at you as an adult, is a question only he know, or you know in your heart. Before this age though, a child is sinless and unaccountable. So I would say that they are blameless in God's eye's but not sinless. The Bible makes it very clear that we have to accept Christ. " whoever shall believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life".

Every child is born in sin, before or after Jesus. (Romans 3:23) Jesus' death on the cross and Resurrection gave us an option to let him take away our sin, if we chose to make him Lord over our lives.
As for a child, until he or she is old enough to know better when he does something wrong (sin) it is not held against him. When he is old enough to know something is wrong (and it is a different age for each person) then it is held against him until and unless he asks for forgiveness and accepts Jesus. But the sin is still there, it just wont be held against them, until they can make decisions for themselves.

No we are not sinless. Yes Jesus died for your sins, but we have to accept in our Hearts the sacrifice God made for us in the blood of Jesus Christ that was shead for us. You can not just say oh yeah he did it, you have to thank God for what Jesus Christ did for us, and ask him to come in to your heart, and then you are stamped or sealed, because you are born again and you are Gods child now, and then and only then your sins (past, present, future sins are forgiven). In the bible it says that Jesus is the only way to father God.
God bless:) p.s. Let me give you a picture example you are standing there seeing Jesus die for your sins: 1. you could just stand there and say oh.... that is a sacrafice and lottie dah..... it is now big deal I see it everyday feel sorry for the man but oh well it happened. OR 2. You could realize it is the son of God (Jesus Christ) in the flesh and know the purpose of why he is dying and take the sacrafice personally that God and Jesus is doing for you, and right there accept the love that is shead on the cross for you and the sins of the world. Then ask God to make that sacrafice cleanse you from all your sins and ask him to make you a child of God by sealing you with the blood of Jesus .

this is a difficult question b/c Catholics belive a child must be baptized, other denominations belive if a child dies, it doesn't go to heaven b./c it never accepted christ......here's what i belive....Jesus wiped away the original sin, and when we get older and accept him, he wipes away the sins that we commit, but i belive a child is born sinless and pure, and if a baby dies, it immedeately goes to heaven because even if it HAD sinned before it's death, it was not accountable for it because it was not able to understand the concept of sin......the Jewish belief is similar, i think....that's what a bat/bar mitzvah is for....it's when a child becomes an adult and reaches the age of accountability, being accountable for his/her own choices

My understanding is that you are still born with a sinful nature, but until you can understand right from wrong you are covered by the grace of God. This is one of those questions that does not have a 100% correct answer, but this is what I believe.

That is not true. We are all man and man is sinful. When a person reaches the point where they are held accountable then they must be saved. Jesus's death was in a way a gift. A gift of life. You can accept or reject it. Heaven or Hell. Simple as that.

Every one has the burden of every sin they ever did on them. We do not inherit sin from other nor give them to our children. We are all sinners and because of that we desrve to go to hell. In the Old testament times they would kill an animal which they owned , like a lamb, as a sacrifice to God for sins b/c a lamb was a "clean" animal and, when given with a humble heart, was pure enough to get rid of one sin.Usually it was there very best animal they could possibly give. Some could only give a little dove, and some could give a huge cow or something. Jesus was our sacrifical lamb, except for some impotant differences. 1. He was man. In the old testament, killing a man would not be a worthy sacrifice of sin to God in fact it would be another sin. God loves man more than anything else in creation. God allowing a man to be killed as a sacrifice would mean a lot to him. 2. He was God. Jesus was God in man form. God sent him to earth specificaly to die to earse all sin. He was God's only begotten son. If you have a son or daughter, think of how much it would hurt you to allow your child to be killed for anything. God sending his son away from heaven to live on Earth, to be treated like a earth person, to be treated like a crminal, and eventually die as criminal though he did nothing. Jesus was the very best that the Earth could give. He was without sin, was a man, was god, and was willing to go on that cross and give his life for us. In our current time, sin still exists and we have the burden of it, yet if we ask God to forgive our sin, the sin is crucified just like Jesus was on the cross. I hope that answers your question God Bless.

You are born into sin, but we are all God's children and he loves all of us. Babies will go to heaven because they are not yet able to make the conscious decision NOT to believe in Jesus Christ. The ones who are not saved are people who know the Word- that you only get to the Father through Christ and who still CHOOSE not to believe.
