Why drink tea?
It tastes good

Well, it does! You might not think so at first, but that usually due to one of these reasons:

* You used lukewarm water.
* You used crappy, probably bagged, tea.
* You steeped the tea too long.
* You're just hopelessly without taste. (Don't despair. You can still resort to coffee.)

There's a vast variety of different teas to try. And if you include herbal teas, which aren't real teas, but still taste good, then the number of choices skyrockets.
It's good for you

There have been loads of studies lately showing a boat-load of good health benefits from tea drinking. Black, Oolong, green, or white, it doesn't matter. Each variety does good things to you, often different things. So drink lots of tea, and drink a wide variety.
It's not bad for you

There's very little in tea that's actually bad for you:

* Tea contains caffeine, much less than coffee, but some people don't tolerate even small amounts well. The blacker the tea, the higher caffeine. So, if you're avoiding caffeine, stick with white and green teas, or try decaffeinated varieties. (I'm told that decaf black tea tastes much more like real black tea than decaf coffee tastes like real coffee. Although, of course, coffee is swill no matter how you slice it.)
* Tea can stain your teeth. It's nowhere as bad as with coffee. Plus tea contains fluoride, so your teeth will be healthier, if not quite sparkling white. My dentist says that a quick rinse of water after drinking tea can help. I rely on baking soda-based toothpaste, as well.

It gives you a feeling of well-being.

Yeah, I know, that sounds disturbingly new-agey. But it's true. (Am I'm about as non-new-agey as people get.) There's more than just the taste of the tea. Tea helps relax you and makes you feel content. The process of making tea also helps with this sensation.

And speaking of the process, let's make some tea.

Cheap tea bags aren't going to give you any health benefits as they haven't got enough anti-oxidants in them.

Green tea is much better for anti-oxidants. They can improve skin health and apparently reduces risk of cancer.

Tea is only bad for you if you make it too hot as it can burn your mouth, throat and stomach. But then you already knew that. ;o)

It depends on who you ask...

There is research that indicates Green tea is good for you

There is research which suggest that caffeine is bad for you, which is found in many teas. ("Caffeine Blues" by Dr. Stephen Cherniski)

It also depends on what you are putting in your tea...lots of sugar or honey, whole milk or cream, chemical laden artificial creamers &/or sweetners???

Again...the research & opinion varies.

tea is really good for you....has antioxodents (bad spelling sorry lol) in it. It can also be calming and has some health benifits when sick (if you believe in herbal healing). Tea is good stuff.
