I think that it is soo funny how Christian bashers take totally random scriptures and pretend that they know the meaning... and then post them on hear like they are some intelligent person... like they are showing us "Holy Rollers" some truth that makes us or God look soo terrible. HA HA.. It's just pathetic.. and then they claim to have read the Bible all the way through. Which... if they did they wouldn't have so many questions... Because it explains itself. Or, they think that they can find places where the Bible contradicts itself. it's just so funny... and the examples that they give are so bogus. and don't change the faith at all... it's like... minor details that they take wrong.. but they think it makes us(christians) some sort of liar... and them some genius guru...
It's just funny... ha ha ha...

Well Its to bad they don't understand. I don't like to see any walk in darkness. What they should understand is there has been a steady attack on the scriptures for as long as they have been around and by much better scholars than most or maybe any who have ever visited this site. Higher Criticism subjected it to all kinds of scholarly attack along with most of today's "institutions of higher learning". No book has been examined more closely than the Bible and no work could ever stand under that kind of attack. Yet the Word stands and carries on and the old saying that the shovel always verifies the Word remains true.

I have read the Bible, from beginning to end.

I believe I read it 4 times, but perhaps only 3.

But regardless, you'll find that most atheists are more literate of the Bible that your standard Christian.

What you don't understand, because you don't understand atheism, is that we didn't just decide one day that we wanted to be "evil" or whatever your interpretation of us is. We studied religion long and hard, in search of the truth.

Meanwhile, your standard Christian does the opposite. Christianity, for example, is easy to follow. It's everywhere you look, and it's the cornerstone of American society. You don't have to study a damn thing to call yourself a Christian. You just have to profess to believe it, and/or give them a little money.

Regardless, I can tell you this. I was raised Southern Baptist, and was just as brainwashed as you are now. It was an incredibly frightening thing for me to lose my faith when I was younger. But I saw the mountains of evidence refuting what I'd always been told. And in defense of my faith, I went on a crusade to disprove all of the secular evidence that had made me question it. I studied science, history, philosophy, and several other religions, in an attempt to find the keys to debunking all the misconceptions about God.

And the more I studied, the more I realized... I was on the losing end. And eventually, I got down on my knees and prayed to God to please show me the way, because I didn't want to lose my faith. And he didn't. Why? Because he doesn't exist. I know that now. But boy, was that a hard fact to grasp back then...

I can only assure you, your god can be easily proven as false. It does take time, however, and I don't have time to educate you, and everyone else on this website. My life is not long enough for that. But I do hope you will do some research on your own.

Hell, do what I did! Go try to disprove what myself and others say here. In the end, you'll eventually realize the truth. Good luck.

I'm not sure if all of the people pointing out contradictions, redactionary problems, and editorial errors in the Bible are "Christian bashers." Many are just thinking rationally. The Bible we have today, as I (and most scholars--Christians ones, as well) see it, is a collection of a vast number of manuscripts that have been refined and revised over the ages. What we have is not the "word of God" but the writings and redactions of a vast number of scribes--many with competing ideas of what Christianity meant--who lived and changed the Bible over a vast period of time. As a Christian, you do have to address that issue. Mindless faith is no faith at all.

Only lying makes Christians into liars.

When you explain the "differences" in biblical scriptures by claiming it was "interpreted wrong." or by claiming it doesn't mean what it says, people with brains have to really look into it. When and if we find out it's just an excuse to "believe" in spite of factual evidence, we like to point it out.

Christians don't need the help of atheists, Pan-theists, or agnostics to "look sooo terrible." They do most of that work for themselves. Just don't be so bothered when others point it out.

You do not think it is funny. You are not amused at all. You are actually mortified by the fact that so much of the bible doesn't make sense to you, but you are afraid to admit it to yourself or anybody else because if you do, you could go to hell. It's ok. You don't have to live in the Real World. We really don't need you here.

I believe in God just not the bible, how dare anyone claim to know what God thinks, I have more respect for God, there are hundreds of archaeological finds proving that the bible that exists was put into place by church hierarchy that had ulterior motives for including and not including what THEY wanted in the bible, only someone who had ALL the original texts and could read them in the original language that they were written in would have a good understanding of what the ancient religious leaders had in mind, and who's to say they were God inspired, insane asylums are full of people who hear God

Listen. I don't think it is funny. No. I think it is sad. I am sorrowful for a sinful world and a people that do not seek after God but wish to disprove God. I believe that man's heart is exceedingly wicked and his thoughts are always evil. Man wants so desperately to not believe the Bible to obtain a possible sense of peace. But only Jesus can give us peace that passes all understanding. Until people find this peace in Jesus, I am saddened and will not laugh at my fellow human.

Jesus christ! You are one *seriously disturbed* individual!!!!
I see you're only xtian for the power trip - the false feeling of superiority. There's no 'think' about it, you dunce - the bible is FULL of contradictions, flaws and misinterpretations, or don't you have any knowledge of your own religions history? lol!

Ever heard the saying "It is better to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and prove it"? Well guess what? You just proved that saying completely, lol!!

One can only hope you never breed, you sick little girl.
Oh yeah, I suppose you conveniently 'forgot' to read the bit in the bible about not judging others too...hypocrite.(reffering to many of your previous racist, ignorant and phobia-filled questions)

Send me a postcard from hell, cos it's where your 'soul' is already.

"angrysandwich" and "menhary" both gave you solid answers which biblical scholars seriously consider. Are you telling us you're privy to better versions than these scholars?

Let's be honest about this. If the bible said that 10=18, you'd find a way to believe it. (By the way, it does just that.) The point of the 2 answers is that you cheapen faith by making it a ritual of thoughtless, slavish regurgitation.

It is funny and that is why I don't respond. I only respond to those that have a genuine question about scripture and need clarification. I don't know why people spend so much time trying to shake our faith, but it's cool. I will press on until the end!
