As a gay man, I find it odd that people ask why we "choose" to be gay. I consider myself a pretty normal guy and am very proud of who I am however I certainly would not have "chosen" to be gay. I want kids someday and that process would be MUCH simpler if I could be with a woman.

Please don't simply agree or disagree with me, answer the question. I am trying to help a friend of mine whose mother thinks he is choosing to be gay. I know it is not a choice so I am trying to help him try to empathize with his mother so that he has the tools to help enlighten her! I appreciate everyone's support however I am sort of looking for answers from people who believe gays choose thier lifestyle. For those who do believe gays choose it, please don't simply throw out scripture and hate, I have heard it all. Answer the actual question, why do YOU think people choose to be gay. I appreciate all of you!

This is in religion because it seems to be religious folks more than any other group who believes being gay is a sin. I honestly want to know why these folks think people would choose to be gay... I am just curious why people think being gay is a choice even though humans have the lowest rate of homosexuality than any other species on the earth.

YOU HAVE THE CHOICE. Just because you are attracted to men, doesn't mean that you HAVE to be gay. You are giving into a temptation and trying to call it natural. I'm sorry, but there's nothing natural about it. You make the choice to be with a man. You could be with a woman. Would it be as enjoyable for you? Definitely not, but it's still your choice. It's the same as pornography. People choose to participate in that. It's not natural. And it is a sin, and yet people do it anyway. It's sin. It's all sin. All sin is a choice. You know it's a sin, you choose to do it, it's your choice, it's your sin. Don't think for one second that I'm condemning you, because I'm not. What I'm saying is that when I choose to lie to my husband or I choose to watch pornography with him, it's a sin. It's a choice I made that I know is wrong, but I choose to do it. With all sin, there is choice. Either you sin or you don't. Homosexuality is a sin. You choose to be a homosexual, you choose to sin. I'm no more innocent of sin than you are. It's just human nature.

The answer is both, some of us choose to be gay others are born that way. The reality is it is my choice to make. If I was born gay then the christian right(wrong) would develop treatments to change and/or abort me In Vitro before I had a chance to choose or not choose anything at all. The fact is no matter what causes it, it is our freedom to do as we like. If it is sin then let me sin, if it birth then let me live. The decision is mine and no yelling scripture of a book that is thousands of years old that is only endorsed by 33% of the worlds population can make someone change their mind. Especially when that 33% change their minds every 100 or so years about the meaning of their own faith. How long ago did whites spout the book of Leviticus to say that blacks were not human and that interracial relations were as to man sleeping with beast. It is the same and in time I have faith this world will come to it's senses.

So you believe you were born gay? Cause to be honest no one is born Gay. to go against something so natural and to have a family is yet being attracted to the same sex is not normal. not trying to be mean, I'm just saying that you have agency, that is the one gift that no one can take away or take control of, never. you choose to live where you live who you fall in love with, you do have control over these things. Yes things have influences on what you choose but you still have a choice. if you didn't whats the point of being here to live life when you have no control over yourself and someone else controls you.

As a public service, of course.

How would the Republicans get so many stuffy religious people to the polls if they didn't have an "enemy" for them to defeat.

PS we won't let the straight people know about the universal pink discount card that gets us all the best deals at all the major department stores... or the special "witty sayings" handbook that is assigned to each of us when we find the courage to "come out"

The fashion and decorating guide I was promised was the reason I CHOSE to be gay. I had no clue prior to the big change.

JCLUVSU2: Thank you for the final sermon. I was hoping somebody would say that. It hasn't been said in,... five or so minutes. How will you keep your word to not preach to us again? If you don't, will you burn in hell for lying?

Gay is not bad this is a certain time feeling for same sex. Every person in world when grew has these feeling. There is nothing bad about it. Some people has control on their feelings and mostly 99.9% people are pretending about this. You know what if you want to get success do not get stuck with any label. Be a boss. Don't let people decide about you. This is your body if it is going through this circle let it go They been through and going through this time they are saying to you two reason 1. Why you did this because there is a middle way with your wife and with them. 2. Curios to know about if it is hard or fun they are seeking for fun too. You are you there is nothing wrong going, on in older days people were gay too. There were no media to make it expose. And population was limited. Please believe me this is not any issue at all it was happening before our birth and it is gonna happen after us too. These days we are getting aware and which was happening hidden now it is open.

I can see "choosing" to be a lesbian. Women are soft and cuddly (a lot of them are anyway). Buy being gay? Ew. Guys are gross. They're bumpy, hairy, they smell bad, I can't even understand what women see in us!

Why would I CHOOSE to be gay?

Gay guys are women inside. fMRI scans show this to be true as far as brain activity is concerned. Pair that with the absolute repugnance that most men share towards kissing another man, and that's decent proof that being gay is NOT a choice. It's no more a choice than being white, or black, or lactose intolerant.

ugh..I'm tired of all of this nonsense of gays, non believers, it has really gotten to me. I have nothing against YOU but I do with your lifestyle, you've heard God's Word but choose to do otherwise. I've decided not to preach to you guys since you all see it as a bunch of bologna. I say, go with what Satan has shoved down you minds and possibly hearts. Just remember that just because you might believe there's no God nor Hell it doesnt mean there isn't. there is a God and definetly a Hell, and if you don't change your lifestyle(which I'm sure you wont) then you are most likely going to suffer in the pits of it for all eternity. Enjoy!

Hello Edward F.. :)

My sister was gay..she said that it was not her choice and for many years she lived with another woman..after she asked Jesus into her heart, she said it was a choice..she just could not see it before..she is and has been happily married for over 20 years, she has 5 sons and 1 little girl.. :)

She has found out that she is discriminated more, now that she is a believer in Christ, then when she was openly gay.. :(

I Love you no matter what your gender, or beliefs or lack of..for I am not to Judge, but to Love.. :)

With Love..In Christ..
