Hello all,
I am wondering if anyone can tell me if I am allowed to be proud of being English and still Live in England?
It would appear that I am not, am I offending People by saying that I am proud of My Country and the freedom it promotes around the world.
Please tell me because I am confused.

Everyone should have the right to be patriotic. If Americans can be proud of America, and Texans proud of Texas, then by all means, an Englishman should be proud to be from England! Who else is going to respect a country if its own people have nothing to be proud of?!

You're damn right you should be real proud to be an Englishman.
England is a great country because my ancestors came from
England and Wales. Keep on being proud and tell people to read
their English history.

I should hope so but lately it isn't fashionable to proud of ones country. Of course being an American when I go to Europe I have to pretend I'm a Canadian so I don't get spit on ;-( Hey I voted for the other guy jeshhhh

Being proud of your country is fine. When patriotism turns into xenophobia is when people get offended. So-called 'patriotism' in England has a history of hooliganism behind it as well (I have heard that hooligans wear t-shirts bearing the union jack.)

Of course you are allowed to be proud of your county, just as long as you dont hate on people from other countries.

Yes, you are permitted to be proud of being English. I wish more of you would be. I also wish more of you would expect people who move to the UK to respect English ways.

i think so. it's obviously easier if ur NOT in ur native country...but sure! everyone has a right 2 be patriotic even if theyr right @ home.
