Well, I don't know much about religion but some of the points that they make in the movie are very interesting. I was wondering if any religion major out there could counter these claims with any proof. I am very confused.

The DaVinci code is not truth. It tries to disprove the divinity of Jesus Christ. Satan has always tried to deceive men into believing that Jesus didn't exist or that he was not God. However, the evidence that is portrayed are not true and they have been disproved as just a fictional story. The Bible is the ultimate authority on truth relevant to God and how to worship him and thus we should try to know the truth or else we will be deceived. The Bible warns that God's people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge, Hosea 4:6. The deceptions that will occur just before Jesus returns a second time will be so great that the only way to be safe is to know the Bible for ourselves.

With respect, it's not about "countering" the points of the DaVinci code with proof. The DaVinci code is fiction. The truth about all these things can be found in the bible.

It is about 95% false and 5% true. They reference characters of the past which some are true and did exist, but the actions they displace to them is all false. It is purely for entertainment and not meant to be taken as true. If you want truth, read the bible. It has proved as the most credible and true source of historical fact. If you want to really understand who God is the bible is the obvious choice. If you are not sure and need to know why you should choose that religion, I suggest reading The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. Very interesting points and written by someone who was an atheist and graduated from Yale (or some college I could never go to). If you are a very good reader and can handle reading material higher than college level you could read some of C.S. Lewis's books like Mere Christianity.

Ignorance amazes me sometimes...

The MOVIE is fiction BUT some of the FACTS are true. Period............... Take that as you will but don't be blinded by your own ignorance and shoot down any other possibilities.

There were many religions before Christianity. You cannot tell me that just because one religion is more popular than another that it is the correct one! Religion gave power 2000 years ago. It still does, to a lesser extent, today! People were more easily swayed by "magic" and "myths" back in those days due to much less education and no free thinking! Oh my! I said those terrible words! FREE THINKING! In those days you did what your parents did for a living, you stayed in your social class. The freedoms that we have today are because PEOPLE REVOLTED AND LEFT OPPRESION of religion and governments. (governments run by religion)

Break through your own ignorance and see beyond what you have been told. And attain your own personal power, not someone elses... The "majority" is not always right, especially when they have been told stories all of their lives.

Why do you need your proof to come from a major religion? I think, among other things, one of the messages of the DiVinci Code is to look outside of organized, "major" religion. We need to analyze & reexamine the historical, societal, cultural & political aspects underlying the Bible from a more analyitic perspective. We need to realize, the Bible has been tampered with, to put it lightly. Who knows the truth? The message is that WE DON'T HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT!

Yes, there is some truth to the DiVinci Code... along with the fiction. So, part fact, part fiction.

Look at the "message" beyond the text.
Hate Dept. is right, BTW.

It is fiction but is supported by partial facts. Most of the facts are stretched and made larger and more interesting. I loved the book and movie, but do not take it very literally. I like the ideas it gave to people everywhere. If you have read The Da Vinci Code, read a book like "The Da Vinci Hoax" and "The Secrets of the Da Vinci Code" to hear another side of the story.
Hope I helped!

The Author will tell you that it is a work of FICTION!!

Because some one puts in a few "facts", doesnt make it "truthful", its still something that is made up, out of the Authors mind.

Most Science Fiction writers will do reasearch to see what is "possible", and what is not "plausible", so that they wont be taken to task, by thier readers.

Fiction writers, dont have to be held to that same circumstance, because they are making up fantasy and anything can go...

I wish you well..

According to God's Word... NONE

you will have to undertake a deep study of God's Word to find the answer you seek. But as one of The Christian Faith I can assure you from the experience of my own Salvation That what is presented in that corrupt work is false.

Any true study of God's Word can only bear the true fruit if led by The Holy Spirit. For those who are honest seekers there can be some understanding. But full acceptance and understanding only can come through the leading of The Spirit. And that only comes to those who come to God in the Way He proscribes.

The underlying theme upon which the Da Vinci code is based, is in fact plausible. That's what makes the story compelling.

Is it true? There's no way to know. Seeing as we can't even conclusively determine whether or not Jesus actually existed, we certainly can't determine the details of his life.

Unless you accept the obvious myths and legends of the Bible at face value, you really can't say anything at all about Jesus.

The DaVinci Code has many truths. It is the that people are attracted to modern fantacy just like they are attracted to the Bible's fantacies. Cult leader have had wives, lovers, girlfriends, child molestation, domestic violence since the beginning of religion. Why should Jesus be any different?
Most Christians are stupid. They believe that Jesus is God and as God he needs them to jump up in peoples faces to defend him, over any little silly thing. "God is god". He can make his own rules, and can defend himself. Why do Christians insist that their god is a wimp? Jesus is supposed to be protecting you. Not vice versa.
Christians are so insecure. """My God is better than your god""". "he watches over me". Where is your mother?
The Christian religion under Jesus is in it's death throws. It won't be long before the evil Jesus is dead once and for all time.
