Sherry,

Just sent you a personal email. Yes, there are good people out here but it's tough and you have to spend the time. I was sick of dating scene at 29 also. Got married, have two kids, best thing I ever did.

Don't worry, that person will come around. And I know how you feel about crowds. I hate crowds.

Never did the online dating but their are reputable services. Out here you'll get a mish mash of quality people and morons but it's a coin flip.

Send a note and say hello...

Jeff

I did the internet dating thing for a while, met some nice woman and some scary ones. I did eventually marry a woman I met over the internet, although I am not happy right now but that is for other reasons.
If you do the online dating e-mail for a while until you feel comfortable, then meet for coffee or at a mall. Make sure it is a public place at first. I have had people lei about there looks but most people are honest. Good luck

Do you have the patience to get to know someone, or are you looking for Mr Right Now? Take your time, and look around. I've met some decent ppl on the web, just be careful because there are a bunch of posers etc. out there...on the internet, everyone's tall, rich, and good looking LOL

I'm in the same position.
I was with someone for 7 years and its hard to meet someone new. So far I met two guys at the grocery store, but I have not yet tried Internet dating (match.com, etc.).
My friend, which also became divorced, is going to try it. If it works for her, I just may give it a shot.
My cousin ended up marrying the guy she met online...

Everyone I know is online! And I know some awesome awesome people. No, it's not just for freaks anymore! But there is a slight learning curve. Don't get into protracted email conversations, meet quickly. Don't have any expectations! And, you've gotta kiss a lotta frogs! Best wishes!

worked for a friend of mine. she came back from teaching in Japan for 8 years, and tried lavalife. wound up with this great guy, now they are married and have a daughter.

although, I think it's like real life, you have to sift through a certain amount of people before you find the one right for you.
