My husband was on this med. but the doctor took him off of it. Now, it could be a high dose for you. There r more meds you can try. Just tell your doctor that it is hard for you to wake up in the mornings. The doctor might try you on new meds or lower your dose. Don't be afraid to tell the doctor that way you can fell happy about how these meds make you feel.

Sedation is a side effect of this medication. Especially at low doses. Wonder why your doctor would insist on any one med. Talk to a doctor about vistaril, an antihistamine that is often prescribed for sleep. Avoid ambein if you can, it is addictive and in the long run will mess up your natural sleep rythmn. Also, what is the source of your sleep disturbance and what are you doing to deal with that?

Talk to your doctor and tell her you would like to try a different medicine that might not cause you to be so drowsy when you wake up. Maybe she could decrease the strength or recommend a less drowsy medicine so you don't feel so tired in the mornings. If she is unwilling to listen to your concerns, get a second opinion.

I would talk to your doctor and tell her how you've been feeling. I know that one medication I was on awhile ago if I took it in the evening would make me useless the next day, but if I took it in the morning I was fine until bedtime. Maybe all you need is to switch times.
However, I would definitely talk to her before reducing the dose, changing to another med, or even changing the time. Any drug that alters chemistry in the brain is one I'd recommend caution with.

Is it just for sleeping? When I can't get to sleep, I take melatonin. It helps me sleep and I have no problem getting up in the morning. Also, if you try it, different brands may cause nightmares so you may have to try until you get the right one. I use Nature's Own. If it wwere me, I would just quit taking the pill.

GET A NEW DOCTOR
When a doctor refuses to listen to a persons complaint about a medicine then the Doctor is not providing the best care possible.

take it earlier in the evening, like 7:30pm. It may wear off by the next morning. The next morning drink a half of a cup of coffee, might help boost you up, and drinks lots of water, this will help in getting rid of it quicker.

You need to be your own advocate. It doesn't sound like the meds your on for sleeping are helping you during the day.
Talk to another Dr and get a second opinion, beacuse it doesn't sound like you trust your own.

I was on it for my Psychotic symptoms never heard of it for a sleep aid though, but just ask for something like Ambien Cr or so or just forget it all together and find a different way of help. it does not sound all that bad. But remember you can always decide! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
