Usually they weave between the lines. Sometimes they will go too slow. They are just different when they drive drunk.

Generally when a driver is weaving, uncontrollably. One way cops can tell , if they are suspicious or even just driving behind people, is that they purposely will follow a car, but will veer to the left or right side of the line. If the car in front of them also follows to the side they are weaving - it is a good indication the driver is drunk - because the driver is consciously trying to "stay in line" with the cop, while not realizing they are weaving back and forth.

Reasons given to me when I've been pulled over and given sobriety tests:
1. I cut somebody off
2. I didn't stay in the lanes
3-6. Was speeding
7. Expired Tabs
8. Failure to yield to a traffic signal.
Basically the biggest thing you can have going against you is if it is around bar closing time. They will look for just about any reason to pull you over and check. Usually if you aren't belligerant and pass your tests they will let you go without issuing a ticket for whichever minor violation they pulled you over for. They generally are looking out for safety at this time of night and aren't trying to be *****(Generally). I have yet to get a ticket for anything for the tests I have taken. I just happen to go to the bars a lot, I'm not an idiot about it.

People who start swerving or always drifting off in a direction and then straightening the car back out might be drunk. Also people who drive very slow for no apparent reason.

I would say that, the driver is swerving in and out. They are either going too slow or too fast. They cut people off numerous times. Also get will go in the wrong direction of traffic.

they often swagger in between two lanes. And generally they drive very close to the median, or they don't signal when turning and make abrupt and rash turns.
