Its called the quick you cut and it did sting the bunny but she will be just fine. We have had (I think) 9 rabbits in out house and it happens from time to time, especially when they have dark nails. They have a powder to help you stop the bleeding and it works well. She'll be OK, but you can still check the foot from time to time to be sure but there is nothing to worry about. Give her some apple, she'll be very happy:) E-mail me if you need any more information

she will be fine, it's the equivalent of you cutting your nail too short, except she has a higher tolerence of pain. the quick stop that you mention which is usually what you put on them when you cut too far is for immediate use so it won't be helpful to put it on a couple days after you trimmed her, but it is always good to have incase this happens again or she cuts herself some other way, and dont beat yourself up, i can tell that you are a good owner because you do cut the nails instead of letting them over grow and having the toe get ripped out or the nail grow into the foot. I'sm sure your rabbit is very thankful that you clip the toes even if you went a little too far.

It happends to all even the professionals sometimes cut the "quick". Flour will stop the bleeding. Next time, try having someone holding the rabbit, and feeding it treats while you are trimming the nails. Also, when you are just playing with your rabbit play with its feet so that the feeling does not get it in an uproar. It will making the cut easier on both of you

Corn Starch or Syptic powder will stop the bleeding. You are not a bad rabbit owner a lot of people cut their pet's nails too low and it bleeds. Just keep checking on it to make sure infection does not settle in. Hope this helps.

Try using styptic powder the next time. You simply rub it on the end of the toenail, and the bleeding will stop. She may be sore for a few days, just like when you cut your toenails too short! But she will be fine. If you are apprehensive about clipping her nails again, you could take her to the vet to have it done. They cost is usually about $8-12. Hope this helps.....

We do that with my ferrets and sometimes it just happens. Its a vein, so yeah it's going to bleed if you cut it. Your NOT a bad rabbit owner, they just squirm. She's going to be perfectly fine. You can't really tell if they are in pain because since they are prey, they don't show they are in pain bc they don't want to be chosen as the weakest of the pack. If they show pain they are REALLY hurting. But I dont think she is.Put some triple antibiotic ointment on it or neosporin and it will clean out any germs and help stop the bleeding sooner. Check her foot periodically.

Take the rabbit to a vet if it doesn't stop bleeding. I would let a professional clip your rabbits toes from now on or else have them show you the correct way to do it.

I did the same darn thing last night! Just apply pressure as you would with any wound and don't worry about it. Have you ever cut your nails too far before? It might be a little sore, but the bunny will live, I promise.

You have this in the dog section, but at least I can say that baking soda applied to the nail will stop the bleeding on most occasions.

Just keep checking on it to make sure the bleeding stops, other than that, not much you can do right now. Good luck.
