Well does she have herpes zoster or herpes simplex? Herpes zoster is not a sexually transmitted disease, it's actually caused by the chicken pox virus and is not contagious.
Herpes simplex is of two kinds .. oral and genital. Oral is what we call cold sores .. and if she has an active sore, she shouldn't really be kissing anyone - although perhaps technically on the cheek isn't harmful, just gross. It's only contagious when the sore is active. If she doesn't have a sore at the time when she's kissing you, don't worry. You might want to tell her that she shouldn't have oral sex or kiss when her sore's active .
The other type of herpes simplex is genital herpes, I *think* it's the same thing as genital warts. Her kissing you on the cheek wouldn't pass it on, but her sexual partners could get it from her if they have intercourse or perform oral sex on her.

Do you mean your roommate has oral herpes? There is something that I want to share with you because I don't understand why people are so afraid of getting oral herpes as almost all adults have it. Please visit this link "Study Finds Herpes Virus In 98 Percent Of Healthy Participants". It is possible that your roommate passes on the virus to you even if no blisters or sore are visible on the face but are you sure you don't have it. Even if you don't have any symptoms, it doesn't mean you are herpes free and if you are, you are very rare. I have never had any oral herpes symptoms yet I know I probably have it as my boyfriend has tiny blisters around the mout sometimes. Oral herpes is really not dangerous to adults. It can be inconvenient but I honestly feel it shouldn't be such a concern.

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?
But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes (type 2) about five years back, when I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I understand a lot of girls will declare this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/08nKX everything changed.
Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the hsv from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience true love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the World.

yes, you can get it. Its not like HIV, it does not need an open sore to get into your body. Like 80% of the population has herpes anyways, you may already have it and not even know. If you have had even ONE sore in your life that come from your mouth or genitals that you didn't know how you got, or came with a cold, you have herpes. Most people are not even aware that they have it.

Herpes is very contagious (the word herpes means to creep) and is passed on through skin contact with an infected person's sores or blisters. The virus will then affect the area where it enters the body, for example, if you have oral sex with someone who has a coldsore on their mouth, you are in danger of catching genital herpes. The virus can be passed on in the following ways:
Kissing.
Vaginal sex.
Oral sex.
Anal sex.
Hand transfer (e.g. masturbation).
The virus is highly infectious when sores and blisters are present, the risk of you passing the infection on or catching the infection between episodes is much lower. However, on rare occasions the virus can be passed on when no sores or blisters are present.

very unlikely if she only kisses your cheek. unless maybe she happens to have any open oozing (herpes) sores on her face or mouth and you happen to have an open cut or abrasion on your cheek.
I wouldn't worry about it.

No, as long as you havent had intimate conatct (kissing on the mouth or sexual contact) you are ok. But if you really need peace of mind, go to your local health department and ask to be screened for it.
