Well, I have 6 dogs. My favorite breed it a beagle. They are non-territorial and very loving. They can be loud but that will happen with any kind of dog.

Another one of my favorites is a Cocker Spaniel. They are also very loving. They are quieter than beagles but they seem to have problems with arthridus (sp?). So if you want to get them medical attention it could be very expensive.

Any kind of hound dog WILL be loud. And there is o exeptions. They are very sweet though. Not all dogs are loud judt because of their breed. My cousin has a Multi-poo (Multese and Poodle mix) and it is the loudest little thing. Even though poodles and multese are VERY quiet dogs. Of course they can also be territorial.

Multiese and poodle dont shed so they are great if you are allergic to pet hair.

Hope I helped

And remember you dont have to pay hundreds of dollars for a loving dog, just go to your neiborhood Humane Socity
They will love you more than anything because they will know that YOU saved its life.

I have a dachshund she is quiet except if someone comes to the door or near the car when she is in it. Then her bark is quite loud, or a quick sharp loud bark to say let me out or in. She is almost 15 now and whine quiet a bit because she is spoiled and wants what she thinks she should have. Up until a couple of years ago she also would say I Love you and no one would believe until they heard her. I should of put her on amazing animals while she could still say it. Somewhere I have a video of her saying I really need to find that disk. They are amazing dogs really, If you want a companion that will be by your side for many years, with so much compassion and understanding to what is happening. Very smart and make good mouse and rat catchers also, will raise big dogs such as chows, pits, Shepard's, like her own and put them in their place. Very energetic and entertaining. Cozy and will keep you warm on winter nights. Love to take sun baths and long naps. Very special dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A siberian husky is a good choice if you want a quiet dog they rarely ever bark and they are so adorable and smart.
Cocker spaniels and dogs like that are the worst kind to get they are so hyper and they have an annoying high pitched bark.

Golden retrievers or labrodors are good, they are large but steady and loyal. Easy to train and forgiving.

The smaller the dog the more exercise.

I keep sringer spaniels but I would suggest not to have one if you are looking for a quiet and steady dog as they are MAD for the first 8 years!

The most quiet dogs are actually basenji's. They dont have the capabilities to bark (although they do whine, lol) and are actually great dogs!

Go to the local pound and get the dog you connect with, go for an older dog as opposed to a puppy.

Getting a dog is a preference. You have to see the dog to know that he/she is the one. When we found our dog, my husband and I both just fell into love with him like love at first site.

Check out the AKC website which offers basic information on most breeds and groups them according to their traditional jobs, i.e. sporting, working, etc...
