The bible was written by man and has been interpreted and twisted many times over. Nobody really knows what the original books looked like. Some of these things were surely taken out of context. You can take anything and twist it into something it isn't. Also lets face it times change. Many believe the part of the bible (forgive me I cant give you an exact place) that tells you not to eat certain things such as animals with a split hoof (pork) were written for the protection of the people at the time. Can you imagine what food poisoning rates must have been like before the fridge and stove? Not to mention the safety practices of the FDA keeping our meat safe for us. So the church asked us not to eat unsafe things. Food poisoning still happens but I don't believe that I am going to hell for eating the pork chops in my freezer. (of course some religions hold this belief very dear...please excuse me no offense intended) With religion you must have faith in what you believe. God also gave us the wisdom to choose what we believe. Are you asking us to tell you what to believe? It sounds like you are having issues with your faith and are unsure where to place your belief. I suggest you seek counseling within the church. They can answer these questions for you

If you read the context of Matthew 15:4-7 and Mark 7:9, Jesus says that they "shall die", as in not live the eternal life because they are breaking the commandment "Honor thy father and mother" and He is criticizing them for the tradition of having children only honor themselves.
Mark 4:11-13 "Yet you say 'If a person says to father or mother, "Any support you might have had from me is qorban (dedicated to God)", you allow him to do nothing more for father or mother. You nullify the word of God in favor of your tradition that you have handed on. And you do many such things."
In Matthew 19:29, Jesus is not encouraging his followers to abandon or neglect his children, but rather that those who have been forced out of their houses, lands, and families, and those who believe even after family members have died for God will inherit eternal life.
Matthew 19:29 "And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life."

In Mt 15:4-7, Jesus is speaking of honoring one's father and mother, which any understanding of ancient Jewish culture will tell you that this involved supporting them in their old age.
In other words, it deals with not abandoning your parents when they are old and in need of your support.
Also, "die the death" doesn't mean a literal death, but it means to fall out of communion with the Jewish faith.
So, in this case Jesus is speaking against abandonment -- the very thing that you criticize Him for advocating in Mt 19!!!
Speaking of which, the word "abandon" never appears in Mt 19:29.
Raul, why must you twist the Bible's words so often, to suit your purposes? Why must you read into the Bible words that are plainly not there -- and when you do, you read the worst possible interpretation into it?
I hope you don't do this with your wife. Do you put words into her mouth too, and misinterpret her words in such a way as to only see the worst possible meaning in them?
For the sake of marital harmony in your house, I hope not.

Okay, first of all, he's not attacking them, he's showing them how ridiculous their criticism is. He doesn't say abandon your responsibilities, he says that if you have given up everything to follow him, no matter how important, you will be rewarded for your devotion. And again, Christ is not criticizing the Jews, but making a point that it's not what they put into their bodies that matters, it's what comes out of their bodies that defile them (including the children). YOU TAKE THE WHOLE FLIPPIN' THING OUT OF CONTEXT!

Is this anything like "Spare a bible, thump your child"?
P.S. Julia, I love the way you translate the bible verses! How do you do that so well?? Do you do that all on your own, or are you using someone else's words? You must be an archeologist or a professor of ancient Jewish customs and rituals or something. I mean, your answers are so complete and so 'spot-on'... It's just amazing. Really. It's like you actually travelled back in time, and returned, becoming the leading authority...
Wow.
That was sarcasm, btw. (sigh)

Right, children will not live as long if they do not obey their parents. He did not say to kill them. Your misinterpreting the Bible.

Take a dump and clear your thoughts.
Your eyes are turning brown.
