I was stumped, I froze then did a Big subject change. Would of it been wrong to say, "Thanks but no thanks"?

id say it wouldnt ...because now a days "i love you" is flung around so casually its hard to tell which ones are sincere...but then again..if you barely know the guy...then yeah...hes just saying it...or he hasnt heard the expression " theres a thin line between love and infatuation"....

A lot of misconceptions with an expression - love is not a bad word or a word that can't be used as an expression of emotion. To ignore it or to allow it to make you feel funny is kind of rude. Many say that love is said too much and used too freely but that is wrong. Love is often misunderstood and most people do not take it seriously. Love is a multi-level words and has many ranges. You love your brothers and sister as family should. you love your dog at a different level you love your closest friends but not like family but you still have love on a certain level. If you believe in God - does that not say love thy neighbor? Do you think maybe God got confused?

Love is an expression of your feelings in as such it gives us a way to share our hearts with others. It does not mean I want to marry you or have children with you or anything along that line. All it means is that you found something in a person that you love.

a way to handle it best when someone says I love you could be as simple as a thank you and nothing more. or to say I really like being loved it makes me feel good. or if you do see something i them that you love you can say I love you too my friend.

Personally I love you too and to top it off I love everyone on this planet and you know what just saying it makes me feel good. and I know when someone tells me they love me it makes me feel great - I don't take it as they wish to have the kind of love between a man and a woman. but other that they found something within me that warms their heart.

anyway I hope I helped and I wish you the best and hey I love you because you are just you.

Well, that would have been possibly a little cruel.

Probably the best answer would be something like "we barely know each other. How can you be in love with me?"

Best of luck and God bless.

No your reaction was quite natural and logical and he should get his act together and understand it was way too soon to say this to you and that you do not feel the same.

"Already? but we just met?" then I would smile and say "You need to save that kind of talk for a special lady...now me, I'm not interested in a guy right now, so you oughtta save that for some other girl who might really deserve your attention, instead of wasting it on me.

love is nothing to play with if you don't feel it then you should not say it.if the person can not accept your true response then they don't really love or respect you and your feelings

"Wow, thank you! I really appreciate your honesty."

If you think you could feel the same way later on say, "I really like you, but I want to say it when I know that it's right and that I really mean it."

not wrong, a little rude, but not wrong...try this: "really? wow? i am flattered and a little speechless....you'll have to forgive me, but i have found that it takes me a little more time to get to that 'i love you stage'....i do like you, immensely and want to continue dating, i just need more time....how about italian for dinner tonight?"
