The bible asks you not to believe in magic!; so if it was food for thought, what was the thought that gave the people an insight into the love of God?.

Neither.
It is just a made up story that's been going around for a few years.

Ever think that if all recorded history is forgotten, and in a couple thousand years somebody finds a copy of STAR WARS, they may think we we once all Jedi knights?

This example was not so much an issue of magic but in 'trusting' in the Divine power, the belief of 'miricle over matter' and the extent of God's unconditional love in a moment of need.

The bible was written for 'spiritual infants' in story form. Receiving the bible as a 'whole' rather than in part, provides the route to spiritually maturity, which in turn allows us to change our perspective to experience the spiritual energy (true message) 'behind' each story.

Interesting one.
The book is pretty clear - in fact unusually clear - that he took x number of fish and x number of loaves and fed y number of people with them...so that seems to indicate a physical feeding frenzy. As others have already said, when Jesus did spectacular things, it's not necessarily counted as magic, it's counted as a miracle; the difference being you do the first by contact with spirits of the eath and the departed, and the second by direct "plugging in" to the power of God. In the same way, when he is said to have walked on water, it's deemed to be a direct conection to God that let him do it, rather than anything involving spells and incantations and so on.

The Jesus Sardine Sandwich was no miracle.. it was in fact a normal sardine sandwich which had been poorly prepared and left in the hot sun for too long. Each person lost their appetite when they smelt the bad fish smell just as they were about to eat it. Each then very charitably passed it on to a neighbour, who did the same. It is not known if Jesus gave a refund to any of his conference attendees to compensate them for not delivering on the advertised "lunch included".

physically, and there were 12 baskets of Left overs.
this is not magic, it's a miracle. there is a big difference between the two.. a miracle benefits or brings glory to the Lord,
magic is a slide of hand, it is called an illusion, or trick, or deceives someone. God wasn't deceiving anyone, he was feeding the multitudes that followed him seeking a sign of who he was.

Jesus physically fed 5,000 men + women & children with 5 loaves & 2 fishes and there were 12 baskets left over. On another occasion He fed 4,000 men + women & children with 7 loaves & a few small fishes and there were 7 baskets left over. These incidents are factually reported in Matthew 14 and 15. (feeding of the 5000 is also recorded in Mark 6, Luke 9 & John 6)

Earlier in Matthew 4, He quoted Deuternomy 8:3 to Satan - "man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.", so all of His teaching can be regarded as spiritual feeding.

Matthew 14:13 - 21
13When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food."

16Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."

17"We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered.

18"Bring them here to me," he said. 19And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Matthew 15:20 - 38
29Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.
32Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way."

33His disciples answered, "Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?"

34"How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked.
"Seven," they replied, "and a few small fish."

35He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. 36Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. 37They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 38The number of those who ate was four thousand, besides women and children.

This particular scripture is both encryptic based on a scientific method(use of machines) guided by spirtual principals. In other words, the hidden intent is a evolutionary chain of events leading up to this wonderous so-called "miracle."

Both actually. He was there to preach to them and when they became hungry and didn't have enough food to go around, he blessed the one little boy's lunch and shared with everyone and still had 12 baskets left over when everyone was done!
