Depending on how often you breastfeed. If you breastfeed more than 5 times a day, you must call your doctor and let them know what you are going thru. You dont want to be taking anything oral because what you eat the baby gets - especially breastfeeding. You may not have a reaction, but the baby will. The first thing the doc will ask you what have you been eating and if you are breastfeeding. Since you are, you have to be very catious of what medicines to take. You dont want to go into the doctor's office and you and the baby is sick. To save yourself all of that, when the baby is taking a nap - even if its for 10 minutes (or however long the baby takes a nap) take out some lemonade, sit down in the living room with the t.v. on low, and call your doctor. Its always good to relax and tell your whats going on. You dont want to call your doctor all hysterical.
**In the meantime, call an on-call doctor and tell them you are breastfeeding and you have hayfever. They will tell you what to get or they will fill a perscription for you depending on how bad the hay fever is. Have your husband pick up the medication, or you and the baby go to your pharmacy.
Dont delay, if hayfever gets worse, you dont want to go to the hospital.
Good Luck.

i was recently told of a homepathic remedy for allergies that would be perfect to try while breast feeding. find a LOCAL bee keeper or honey supplier and buy a jar of UNFILTERED fresh honey. some of the honey may come from one particular source, such as clover honey. But other honey is a combination of the plants and flowers found in your area. This is the one you want. Start taking one straight teaspoonful a day, especially before symptoms start. While i can't guarentee it will work, alot of people swear by this as it soposdly acts as an innoculation against the different allergen cuases you would be exposed to. Just remember not to use this remedy for children under 2 as the bacteria in honey can cause botchalism to grow in their stomachs and intestines.
Your doctor is the only person who can reccomend a proven allergy therapy otherwise.

SALT water,
SALINE from the store,
I don't think too many are going to let you while you breastfeed.
The salt in the saline may help kill some bacteria. It doesn't burn, it just moistens your nose, so you can blow.
The natural cure is to lean your head forward, for up to three minutes and let as much as will, drain to the front of your head, then BLOW! Not hard, tho, 'cos you can blow it into your ears and start infection.
Speaking of a baby, why don't you get a pear bulb for YOUR nose?

You can take Promethazine 25mg tablets twice a day
OR
Nasal steroids like Beclometasone are good, and neither affect your milk supply or your baby. You can take up to 8 puffs a day -50 microgrammes per puff.
Herbal remedies like bog rhubarb have also shown good results if you prefer .

Plain Claritin, and Zyrtec(rx only i think) are safe. Watch baby if you take Benedryl because of its sedating properties.
Don't take decongestants because of the possiblity that it will reduce your milk supply.
There are also other things you can do for the hayfever itself. Check out: http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/cold-remedy.html

Antihistamines can deplete or stop your milk from producing. Call up your local La Leche League and ask them for advice, or a nurse line.

(I breastfed completely for the first 4.5 months) I had my first era provided that shipping, on Dec. fifth. January 10th, I received my first efficient HPT. they say in case you breastfeed completely, without giving solids or formulation, then your probabilities of having pregnant are slender to none. besides the undeniable fact that, once you commence supplementing and introducing solids previously 6 months of age, then your probabilities of being pregnant strengthen seriously.

You do not need antihistamines. You may use steroid nose sprays, as well as decongestant sprays and tablets.
Steroid nose sprays are perfectly safe and recommended if you are worried.
