The best equipment is actually the classics: dumbbells, barbells and body-weight exercises. You don't have to spend a lot of money to put together a great gym that will be more useful and practical than any of the expensive machines you see advertised on television. No machine available today can match the challenge, versatility and athletic benefit to the above equipment. Machines artificially balance the load for you thus not allowing for your stabilizer muscles to develop properly. Make sure you work the whole body with perfect form, posture and breathing.

Well honestly it depends on your budget and room/ space! For a cheap home gym that still does the job try: Bench with adjustable bench pad to you can change it from decline to incline too! Buy some moderate weight dumbells! Buy some resistance cords heavy duty ones! Buy a straight bar! Now for the weight you should get a pair of the following : 45, 35, 25, 10,10, 5, 2 1/2! I did put two 10's on their on purpose!
And if you have money then try The new Bowflex! E-mail me if you have anymore problems/ questions! Warrick_2006@yahoo.com

I suggest getting a membership at a gym, honestly. You've got all the choices you could ever want. Or if you still want to have a home gym, get a visitor's pass to a gym for a week and see what all you like and base your purchases of that.
