I'm Christian. Roman Catholic. I've just responded to at lest 3 posts (in a row) attacking my faith.
#1: "Not 10 people in the world hate Catholicism. Millions hate what they mistake Catholicism for."
#2: Is there something so wrong with wanting a little order for a couple hours a week? (If you're into it, it carries over to the rest of the week.)
Why am I hated for wanting guidance on how to live my life & wanting to not have to figure out how to do it on my own?
#3: Why do so many people want me to be confused & angry like them? I'm happy, which upsets them. Why?

I pray to God Almighty that I don't get TOO much hate mail from my fellow humans...that's you guys.
Have mercy in your answers, please.

It's kinda funny.
My faith is strong (Thank God! [Litterally!])
Thanks to everyone wishing me strength & saying "Good luck!" etc.
To whoever said "see you in hell," I'll say a prayer for you.
Now, have I said (anywhere; you can check my other posts!) that if you aren't Christian (let alone Catholic) that you're going to Hell? No. Have I pushed my faith upon others? No, not to my knowledge.
I am genuinly asking WHY. I'm in no spiritual dilemma. In fact, I'm not worried one jot about myself. It's people who are just coming into the faith, any faith, that I'm worried about. It's true for any creed; in the beginning we are vulnerable.

I am genuinly curious. Is THAT so hard to believe?

Half of my family is Protestant (Baptist, Methodist) & I have Agnostic & Jewisg friends. I have no problem with y'all. (BTW, one of my friends used to be atheist) Why do y'all have a problem with me? (I don't care: I just want to know why.)

*sigh*
Is it so hard to hit "spellcheck"???
Please?
JUST THIS ONCE?
Thanks

I try not to "attack" any form of spirituality.

I do often enjoy pointing out hypocrisy. As long as you aren't a hypocrit, you shouldn't feel attacked.

In direct response to your question:

1. No, most people who hate Catholics aren't mistaken. History tells a grousome story of the the spread of Catholocism. Christianity, in general has made a very dark mark on our world in times gone by. I understand YOU had nothing to do with it. We all understand that YOU aren't responsible. It is folly, however, to pretend like it didn't happen just because you weren't there. Much of the hatred for Christianity has just reasoning. Christians haven't allways been the "warm fuzzy" types that exist today. Many people were tortured, killed, maimed, and oppressed to spread the "good word." People, in general, don't take kindly to that type of behavior. Go figure.

2. There is nothing wrong at all with you wanting to to attend the church of your choice, for what ever reasons you see as reasonable. There is nothing wrong with you seeking guidance from an ancient war-god's son, called the prince of peace. Whatever rocks your boat. Just don't expect everybody to understand and agree with your decision.

3. It has been said that ignorance is bliss. I doubt anybody is really upset because you are happy. I would guess that if anybody is upset, it is because you will insist that what makes you happy should make everybody happy. Nobody wants you confused and angry. For goodness sake. Things are bad enough.

I think I understand the REAL problem here. You mistakenly think these discussions revolve around you. If the descriptions people post don't reflect you, it isn't about you. There is no reason for you to feel attacked. If it makes you feel more "special" when you feel the attack is personal, then there isn't much any of us can do about it.

Good luck and bless.

In the name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful. I hope that this response finds everyone and their families in good health. I've never been on a website of this sort, but I came across this site while reading some articles on Constitine. i see the world going through changes and I'm sure that you do also. The main thing that we are being taught in my faith is that TIME IS UP! whatever religion or faith that your in...... cleave to it LIKE THERE IS NO TOMMORROW! If we don't change our ways soon it will be too late. We have bigger things to worry about ......Much Bigger! Peace Be Unto You Always.

Well then, this is the huge double standard which applies to the Nihilism VS Religion debate. The "Free Thinking Left Wing" claims that everyone should be free to do as they wish without being judged by sex, religion, nationality, faith, race, sexual orientation or shoe size. My problem, regardless of my reglious beliefs, is that even though *most* liberals preach "Tolerance! Tolerance! Tolerance!", they always seem to attack anything having to do with faith or God. This is why I could never actually live with calling myself a true liberal. True atheists shouldnt care what you believe. As far as their concerned, none of it exists anyway. And to be honest, its really not a majority of atheists that are attacking you. The people that attack you are nothing more than politicall correct cowards who are happy unless have something about which to cry/b*tch/moan. I know and work with a lot atheists, and by and large, none of these people care what you believe. If a mall wants to put a big banner of Jesus Christ saying "Merry Christmas" in their foodcourt, most atheists dont care. It could be, Jesus H. Christ, it could be Superman, they dont care. I wouldnt let it get to you. The only reason these people are saying anything at all is to get a rise out of you.

Hang in there little flower. Most of the time it is just because they are actually insecure in their faith, be it ateism, wicca, new age, or whatever. They are the same as bullies were in school. They act tough to cover up their fear. The internet gives them the opportunity to pick on the meek. And if we take the bait then they say we are being mean and un-christian. As if we ever said we were perfect. Just remember I think it's matt5:13 or there abouts. Blessed are you when people persecute you for your faith" .I try to keep that in mind. Sometimes I forget. But it is really neat to think about. We are blessed because of the ugly behavior of these fools. Without knowing it they glorify God.

I applaud you for wanting guidance on how to live your life. But please do not base that guidance solely on what humans say, even if they are priests, nuns, etc. Base it on what God says in the Bible. Do your own research on what guidance he has provided. Look especially at the teachings of Jesus, and all of them, not just the sermon on the mount (which is wonderful, of course). Read the letters from the apostle Paul, who provided so much guidance. If you do read the Bible on your own, GREAT! Faith is a wonderful thing to possess. It is good that you are happy. Ask your priest/fathers questions that you have. If they are unable to answer them, then do not stop until you find the answer. Search out those who truly use the Bible in their teachings and in every day life. And remember, a "Christian" is someone who follows the footsteps and commandments of Jesus Christ. Make sure you know what those are and that you are following them based on what is laid out by Christ himself in the Bible. Look at Matthew 28:19, 20 for an example.

3 posts? Sadly, that's nothing. I've responded to several hateful Questions/Answers about the Catholic faith. Most people are just not familiar with what actually occurs in the faith, others have just been raised to hate it. Stay strong, educate them with the truth, and let it be. God Bless!

It's funny isn't it... how all the other religions persecute Christians the most? It's even funnier how they scream "HAVE AN OPEN MIND" but deny Christianity without ever having read the Bible. It's just great how every time a Christian puts up a post their are a hundred pathetic, lame, ignorant answers about how we are terrible people.. from others who know NOTHING about our religion but hearsay... They have never read the BIBLE with an open mind. They have never tried to fully understand why we do the things that we do.

It just shows.. that although they think that a lot of us are hypocrites because we are human and we make mistakes..

Most of them are hypocrites because they scream for Christians to have an "Open mind" but refuse to do the same.

In my view, there are some hypocrisies within the Catholic church which actually seem anti Christian. One of these things is the worshiping and praying to idols, or statues, as well as the virgin Mary.

"I am the lord thy God, thou shalt not have false Gods before me!"

Another is the Eucharist. Catholics believe that the hosts and wine are actually turned into the body and blood of Christ every service. Most Christians understand that this is done in remembrance of Jesus as he commanded, and not some miracle of turning the bread and wine into body and blood. I have eaten many hosts and they were always just unleavened bread.

Some other reasons some may dislike the Catholic Church are what they interpret to be the superiority complex that many Catholics exude, as well as some of the bad press about priests, pedophilia, and church cover-ups, and finally, the bad history of the church such as the Spanish Inquisition.

A wonderful thing about religion is that you are free to worship as you choose. To worship and honor God is the most important part.

Best Wishes

I'm confused by your statements.

#1 just dosen't make sense to me at all, I'm sure there are at least 10 people who used to be Catholic who left that faith, and now hate it. I'm one of them, and I know I'm not alone.

#2 Umm...whatever you choose to do with your time is your business, not mine. I really could care less if you want to spend time at church, I'll be home sleeping. Prayer time - whatever floats your boat, I'll be having fun in my own way.

#3 The implied statement in your question bothers me. Just because people may not believe in god or religion does not mean they're confused or angry. I'm neither, in fact, I'm pretty happy. And I don't mean to be rude, but I could really give a rats a#$ if you're happy, confused, angry, whatever. I don't know you, so your emotional state is no skin off my nose. If other people want you to be unhappy, that's their own deal, and I can't explain it to you.

I attack questions that just seem silly or attack me first. Like you, I chose to defend my beliefs, even if they are not the same as others. But I try to use reason and logic, rather then petty attacks. Why the rest of the Answers community isn't like that, I can't tell you.

THANK YOU! It seems like people attack what they don't understand! I am a catholic as well and I hate it when I see questions on here saying why do catholics believe this or that? And inside I am screaming we don't and sometimes I actually want to give a proper explanation! I just don't have time to educate people who don't care or respect other peoples beliefs!! I would never push my religion or political beliefs on anyone! I may voice my opinion and listen to the reponse but never preach that we are number one or anything! I agree with you! This is why we have wars and hate crime! People are ignorant to what they don't want to hear or learn!
