It is up to you and his family. I have been divorced for almost 4 years now and my mother-in-law and I still get together and go shopping sometimes or out to lunch. We spent 14 years as family, you don't need to erase that. We don't discuss her son, my ex, or his new girlfriend at all. We talk about the kids and her life. What is inappropriate is for your ex-husbands girlfriend to believe she gets to have an opinion about ANYTHING.

Yes it is okay if his family doesnt see an issue with it then dont stress it The girlfriend probably poses you as a threat in that situation but if you know that the reasoning for contact with the family is friends and in good meanings then definately dont stress over it continue to be friends with them tell her she might need to just open up and except it cause if she lets it get to her that bad then she is jealous and insecure but yea definately follow your heart

The new girlfriend is right. It is inappropriate for you to be in contact with his family. She is dating him and trying to form a relationship with his family. You are in the way. They will not accept her completely while you are still around muddying the water. It is selfish of you to continue to have contact with his family even if his family says they are okay with it. Would you want your ex-husband to make a nuissance of himself with your family while you were trying to let your family get to know and accept your new boyfriend/fiance/husband?
Honey, you are being a little pain in the butt and need to understand when to make your exit. Sorry, but you need to hear the truth. There's an old saying that says when you marry a man, you also marry his family. If that's true, then when you divorce a man, you also divorce his family. It is pure selfishness to hang on to them.

Well i think it depends on if you two have children, because then you have every right to stay friends with them. Is the ex-husband ok with you being friends with them? if so then it doesnt matter what the new girlfriend thinks. She is just jealous of the relationship you have with his family and probably thinks that you will get back together with your ex-husband.

If you two have kids together, then you absolutely should stay friends with them, because they are your children's family. But even if you didn't have children, why give up the friendships? The new girlfriend is just showing her insecurity. If she had enough confidence in herself that she could also form friendly relationships with his family, then she wouldn't feel threatened by you and your friendships.

That's a decision between you and the family members. You get to pick your friends.
I'm still friends with my x's Mom, a great lady and I treasure her friendship and we were divorced 45 years ago and he's had wives come and go but I still have a good Mom friend.

Ahhh, it's the girlfriend who said it. Well, she's afraid that they like you more than her. She doesn't want to compete with you for his mother's affections.
It's really none of her business, and of course you can still be friends with the family.
