Yellowstone is a supervolcanoe. It is believed to have had several catastrophic eruptions.
The evidence now is that there have been big eruptions and smaller ones since the last really big one. So we can hope it will be a smaller eruption.
If it does explode in supervolcanoe fashion it has the potential not just to effect california or the United States but to have devastating effects on the whole world. Several cubic miles of rock would be erupted. Huge volumes of smoke and ash would be thrown into the upper atmosphere and quickly surround the globe. Without sunlight plants and animals will quickly suffer and die. It has the potential to wipe out all life as we know it on the planet.
There is a little hope however. The Earth is gradually cooling and whilst volcanoes like Mt St Helens go off now and then it does seem as if volcanic activity may have slowed down slightly. This can only be assumed as the research relies on fossil history balanced against current events.
Yellowstone will almost certainly erupt again and if it does it may be a much bigger explosion than a normal volcanoe. Each volcanoe has a periodicity and this one seems overdue to explode but it may be thousands or even hundreds of thousands of years yet. No one knows.

If previous eruptions are a handbook to the destiny, then convinced the ash from a destiny eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera will attain California. The referenced photo exhibits the quantity of ash beds from the perfect eruption. maximum of California is nicely interior of that section. also, there'll through pyroclastic debris scattered which couldn't lay down ash beds because it will be too skinny. this may impression California.

While it mostly depends on weather patterns, the fallout cloud (plume) will mostly stretch to the east, and what reaches California will have circled the earth. Global warming will be set back considerably. And quite possibly, much of humanity will starve in the volcanic winter that follows. It depends on the size of the eruption.

No it is so far away only ashes and some fumes could reach pacific region.
A volcano may be forming in the park but it'll take hundreds of years in the future, but distance is huge, so don't worry.
