Great Question.
When we first moved here to Indiana from Michigan, we knew absolutely no one.
We first attended the Church closest to our new home. Come to find out they were desperately trying to attract new people to the church and they thought my family was an answer to that prayer.
This church was constantly trying to entice new people to come, to the point of giving them things and positions, etc. What they were failing to do, and are still failing to do, is to put their stong wills to rest and allow GOD to lead that church. Sadly I believe that church will close its doors soon.
As for the church we ended up attending, its 15 minutes drive, but we were told by many that it was a church where GOD was allowed to lead. We were a bit gun-shy, so we attended a few other churches on a visiting basis, and ended up at the church that was first reccomended.
So, I guess, the real answer is recomendation. Not from one person, or even a couple of people in the same group. But recomendations from different people in different situations.
So, get out there, start talking to people (witnessing) and let GOD control who comes, and when they come.

My church is a small church of about 30-50 people. The reason why I first went there is because it's the same one my grandparents go to. However, I stayed there for two reasons:
a.) the pastor preaches the truth
b.) and the people are really friendly, you know people the first Sunday you're there.

Actually, I chose the church I am now attending because it was the closest and it wasn't Methodist. I was raised as a Methodist but have decided that their values are not my own. I was lucky and liked the church from the very first time. We have been attending that church for 3 years now and are still happy.

I carefully studied the Bible in context of all it has to say on many different subjects. After examining the beliefs of various religions, I found that most churches were not teaching what the Bible really teaches. In fact, I found that only Jehovah's Witnesses were, so I began attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall, eventually dedicating my entire life to Jehovah God to do his will and getting baptized. That was in 1979 - I have never regretted it!

I have known my pastor for a few years. I was going to another church. I had to have surgery. when i woke up in the recovery room that pastor was standing by my side, when my real pastor was not. He is a wonderful man. he preaches the true word of God. he is warm, caring, and loving. He always helps others, when they are in need. I Thank God for my pastor for 2 years now.

I don't go to church; I go to a synagogue. I attend there because they seriously study the Torah; the first 5 books of your Bible.

Music-the church I now attend has a "blended" service-don't like more contemporary so the blended one works for me.
