The Bible states God (the Designer) created man in his image. However, that image can only be obtained though evolution. Thus the first life form on Earth was Adam, the Amoeba (or Adamoeba in ID-speak). But Adam(oeba) was lonely, so God designed the process of binary fission for which Eve was created from the body of Adam. Since they were both asexual, they can just as easily be called Adam and Steve.
After God designed the process of genetic mutation to diversify the gene pool, Adam and Eve used asexual reproduction to populate the world at an exponential rate through continued binary fission. Thus all mankind, including Mr. Caviezel did in fact come from "Adam(oeba) and Steve".
You see? It is only through the merging of Science and Theology that all answers can be obtained.

Hahaha! We all are directly descended from Adam and Eve and we certainly aren't all the messiah considering he's in heaven preparing a place for his people.
