I saw a show on Oprah once on this, and the women that liked the prison inmates are hot and intelligent. Does this go along with why women like "bad boys"? Is it the challenge that makes women think such relationships are exciting? We can say that these women need help all we want, but there must be some deep-seeded instinct of why women long for the risky "bad boys" when the safe boring guys will be more loyal.

because no one out here would date them...i know that inmates act like they are the most wonderful man that would listen to all your problems in the world and send you letters with nicely drawn envelopes...but THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO!

Everyone has a tendency to want to save or enslave someone. This is the way that these women express it. They may feel that they in fact being with an inmate in a relationship actually frees them (the women) from an inner prison that they have been locked up in all of their lives.....or they now have someone that relates that their imprisonment. So now they just have a partner in suffering or in freedom, however they choose to see it. It is a sort of massochistic type of projective identification. I don't know if they see it as exciting, they see it as their lot in life...very sad.

They don't have to see them all the time, so they can build an image in their heads of that person without it being shattered as soon as if they were together all the time. The "bad boy" aspect probably plays a role too. Who knows? I'd prefer a guy not incarcerated and available for dinner, movies and sex when we both wanted.

Maybe they are desperate. Maybe they think the man being in prison means he will not cheat with another woman, even though a lot of times these inmates have several female "girl friends".

Probally for the same reason they like gay guys-they're " safe "-and another reason is that they have a " mommy " complex, and the desire to " save " & " rescue " a lost cause-
