Did you know that SOME, and I did say some, Christians are the biggest assholes I've ever come across?

Yes, I do know that. Some people are so obsessed with saving someones soul that they don't feel that they are doing anything bad by hurting someone's feelings. Actually they are ignorant about other religions and cultures. A man can have spiritual sartisfaction in many ways. Christ may be ONE answer but not the ONLY answer. Some people are so obsessed with "conversion" that people consider it to be an evil trick to destroy local cultures. There are plenty of people out there, eager to convert people, I don't know which country you are from but there are plenty of them here in India.

yes I too am aware that some christians will try to convert you.
they see themselves as missionaries of Christ.
conquering new worlds for their God.
It's actually quite flattering, but at times it is annoying.
I am what I like to call a "freelance Catholic"
I follow the teachings of the Catholic church but at the same time borrow a few things from other religions to make my life a more rich and beautiful place to be.
I do not try to convert others, I merely seek to educate them and myself.
I beleive that faith is more important than religion.
this is what most of your religious fanatics tend to disagree with me.
I have faith in God, not religions.
I seek tolerance of all people.
Untill man learns to tolerate each other regardless of religious beleifs, we will never be at peace.

I know that there is a difference, but your wife's family is of the vast minority. I don't ask to be converted by every Christian I come across. And frankly, as I am an adult and free to make my own choices, then I believe it's none of their business what I choose to believe. They should be spending their time educating their own brethren and leave the rest of us alone.

Exactly. Some Christians do take it too far because they want others to see it their way. There is a huge difference between educating others and trying to convert them; most people don't realize that.

You chose the Catholic faith because you were converted not out of people who claimed to be right, but out of poeple who clearly love you. So I agree. There are many ways to convert someone, and by direct force, it is wrong -- but through the values God taught us, it is right. It is my goal not to "try" to convert someone, but to defend and educate about Catholicism, as you say.

You say I should be flattered if someone is concerned about my soul, yet if I said to that same person who is worried about my soul that I will petition the Goddess for them they would have a pink fit.
I would pefer that nobody offered a christian prayer for me, not being rude here but however well meant , it means nothing to me as it a faith that is alien to my own.

Yes, I believe that many people are very sincere in their beliefs and try to convince people out of love and concern for them. It's always best to come to your beliefs on your own though. When the student is ready the teacher will appear.

Yes, I knew this. You will also find this in the political arena as well. I was raised in a christian family but I did not find my faith until several years after I left home.

Some are concerned for your 'soul', but that isn't the real reason they are trying to convert you, that's just what they tell themselves to make themselves feel better about spreading their meme.
The real reason they try to convert is that it gives them a stronger sense of being right.

That's one of the biggest differences between Catholics and non-Catholics. Catholics stand behind the truth, while non-catholics try to disprove the Catholic religion...
