i saw that there were gravestones with the upiside down 5-pointed star on them, and i was just wondering if these were a sign of satanism or another type of meaning behind them.

The original inverted pentagram was a banishing symbol. The upright pentagram is to bring good things forth, the inverted to repel unwanted things.
People have since used the symbol for other reasons and it has been largely associated with Satanism because of the church insistance that anyone who used to the symbol was in league with Satan.
The pentagram is older than Satan. Satan was made up by the Christians to control people of the church.
Modern Satanists do exists, but they are few in number and are more like secular humanists than those dark, evil Satanists portrayed in Movies.
This was probably done by ignorant teens.

well first off how old are the gravestones and in what part of the country are you in? if you can tell me these then i might be able to give you a decent answer.
sorry allison it is the right side up pentagram that is used for Wicca. the up side down one is what most satanist use as their symbol

im not sure ath it means on a gravestone but a down pointing pentagram represents the ower of one instead of the uppointing pentagram wich represents the power of others over you

It means blasphemy in many instances. It's a religious symbol and probably was part of this persons belief system.

the upside down pentagon is the sign of the wiccan religion....or just a regular pentagon.........i think its the upside down one tho.... and its not a sign of satanism, thats just a rumor the church cooked up......a very long time ago.....the DaVinci code was very interesting, you should read it......heh, sorry.
