No way! Those books are works of geniuses! They're made out of a writer's imagination and I just dont see how religion can be related. Besides, if you are really strong in your faith you would not be swayed in your belief no matter what you read

I have read good arguments for and against reading Harry Potter. There is a lot in it that is not exactly Christian. However, reading is not a sin, it is how you absorb what you read and accept that can be sinful. HP is not a directly blasphemous book. At the most, it is only an occasion of sin, which means that the likely hood of HP leading to sinful actions is great, and therefore reading of HP should be avoided.
LOTR, by Tolkien is an extremal Catholic book by a VERY devout Catholic man. The worldview within LOTR is completely Catholic. It is very beneficial for helping people to understand how Catholics think about the world, even though it is a fantasy book and filled with things that are not and never were real.

NO, it IS NOT a sin. If it was, then every other fantasy book out there is a sin, including all the classics. Then we'd get into the whole Puritanical aspect of religion &/or Fahrenheit 451 (which is an excellent book, btw, & really answers your question). Some of the religious zealots out there would like us all to believe it, but it's certainly not true. IGod help us all if it was.
Btw, why would it be a sin to indulge in your imagination? After all, NO ONE can see inside your head except for God & yourself. :)
(Btw, I am NOT religious by the accepted meaning of the word; I believe in God but I prefer to worship on my own, not by following the (C)church.)

I know a website with a REALLY awesome answer for you. It is mostly about Harry Potter, but it also addresses Narnia and LOTR. The answer on this site is that it is NOT a sin, and it gives a lot of good reasons IN FAVOR writing them. If you really want a good answer, you have to check it out...

Ok, writing those books is by no means a sin. They are books bound in the realm of fantasy and Christian people have been writing that same type of stuff for years, C.S. Lewis for example. Those books are absolutely harmless as long as it is clear that they are nothing more than fantasy. If that is constantly in the back of your mind while you are reading them then there is nothing wrong with reading them or writing them. Anyone calling those writers sinners just for writing those books of calling their action of writing those books a sin is nothing more that ignorant to the truth of what sin really is. Relax, enjoy the reading, see it for what it really is, and move on with your life. God never said "Thou shalt not write fantasy books." He did say though that "Thou shalt have no gods before me." If writing that book or reading that book becomes more important than God in your mind, then it is a sin. It is not the reading and writing that are the sins, it is the attitude and prioritizing that is in that case.

It's wrong to do or say things dat'll have a negative influence on other ppl's spiritual life...just as a lady could put on beautiful dress that reveals some intimate body parts to the detriment of men who notice her bodily features...every sin starts from a thought, no matter how innocent it may have seemed no matter how small...and if they sin as a result of wat they see...then am sure the lady's not blameless. I hate to judge, so if you're a christian, check the bible...I fink the bible relates it to someone that's save eating food prepared for idol worshipping purposes, Idols dont own any food, but those who see that person eating may loose their right spiritual standing.
Still there may be more to this, I may be wrong...I'd hate to keep you from showcasing your talent, a pastor or a good frend might help.

depends on your religion, its beliefs and what you have written.
As an example if in your religion it is sinful to drink whiskey and eat with your left hand while letting a dog lick your right hand.
and your story hero, drinks and shares food with a dog
then for you, that would be a sinful story.
for the most part Fantasy books are ok as long as you keep them G. rated (suitable for children to read).
