i have two daughters, 4 and 6, and my best friend has a son that's 4. this came up while babysitting him and during bath time. i told my oldest daughter that was 4 at the time (the others were 2), that those are boy parts and you have girl parts. we call (for lack of a better word) the girl parts a birdie and the boy parts a dingle. after awhile, birdie doesn't sound so nice, especially when they talk about it alot, so now we taught them to call them your private parts and that no one should touch them and about good touch and bad touch. i bought them the STRANGER DANGER video from Adam Walsh and the woman from Baby Einstein. anyway, for the time being that was a good answer and it was OK for them to tell people, which they will...then we escalated to more teaching over time. my six year old has accepted the boy parts and girl parts and never asked again. when she asked where babies came from i told her from a mommy's belly and daddy puts them there and it's a gift from God and i will explain more later when you are older. they just usually accept those answers. watch what you tell them so you aren't embarrassed when they tell others...which they will. i guess i beat around the bush alot, but not all things are needed to know at such young ages. good luck with whatever you decide.

i don't remember it all, but there was a great article in Parenting magazine 2 or 3 months ago. it had all kinds of questions about body parts and sex and how to explain them to a young child. u can probably find older issues at your local library or maybe they have an online site. good luck

Just use the correct terms. Don't make it a big deal (do it when you are putting on his/her shoes, folding laundry, etc). You don't want you child to feel ashamed of asking you, you will want this open communication when they are 16 yrs old, so they don't end up like some of the other "young adults", that come to ask. for answers instead of their parents.

I am going to imagine by this question you mean genatalia. Be honest and open and don't try to make it like its a game or joke. Explain to your child the differences between the sexes that boys have a penis and thats what makes them boys, Girls don't have one which is what makes them girl.

Teach the proper word, there are actually books in stores like toys r us and that provide visual aid. Use a doll, avoid slangs that could confuse the child.
