the trim is the board that hang down from the roof and the boards that are on the corner of the house and around the door jams

Trim is the strips of wood/metal directly next to the windows and the doors. Around the edge creating a frame around them.

USUALLY THEY REFER TO A BOARD OF WOOD THAT IS AROUND A DOOR AND AROUND THE WINDOWS....SOMETIMES THERE IS A TRIM AROUND THE EDGES OF THE HOUSE.....SO WHEN YOU PAINT IT IN A DIFFERENT COLOR THE HOUSE WILL LOOK MORE OUTSTANDING WITH THE TRIM PAINTED......
